Hello everyone.
I just noticed today that my camshaft solinoid is beginning to leak. I've seen there parts online along with the wire harness upgrades because I'll assume mine no longer qualifies for the TSB issues where they replaced these harnesses for free.
My question would be that I have no engine troubles or codes relating to this. Is it still wise to replace the solinoid or replaced only there o ring to stop the leak.

I would unclip the harness and verify theres no signs of oil in it.
I thought the issue with them was the seals inside would leak and oil will travel up the harness. If you see oil on the engine im guessing the o-ring is leaking. I would just replace that and see. I say this since you dont have any faults.
What part #'s are on your solenoids in the car? Are they the lastest part #'s?

So the solinoid appear to be factory and I don't see any extension plugs just factory harness's. I don't see signs off wicking or oil in the plug. It only appears that it's been leaking slowly. They seem easy to replace so I might just order some o ring for them. Unless it's recommended to replace these. I believe this is there pay number at the bottom of the pic of three one that is not leaking. After rubbing the oil of the leaking one the number isn't really readable

Those do look different than the ones in my car so im assuming they are update versions.
I have the M272 and they installed the additional wiring harnesses.
I would just replace the o-ring and see if that stops the leak. I had oil on one of the covers and replaced one of the cam position sensor o-rings and it stopped the oil leak.
Im assuming you have the M276? I looked at the parts diagrams and they list two part #'s, on is the replacement #. I guess they are different than the M272.
Still, if no check engine light, no oil in the harness, i would see if just replacing the gasket stops the leak.
Well I was reading and allot of people saying the cam magnets hardly ever leak so I clean them really well and I don't see any leak. Dunno how they got so dirty but me engine is due fora pressure wash
Checked mine again today and I see no leak. But after digging in a little bit I noticed the power steering is leaking. Now to clean it all up and see where this fluid is coming from.
Came across this and found it interesting. Where they say if there is no fault code there is no need to replace it, just replace the gasket. Im thinking it would apply in general.
Well I degreased the front of the engine and pressure washed it yesterday. Today is clean as a whole so I start it and let it idle for a few. Saw this very slow weep of a leak on the oil filter housing. Replaced the o ring and it's better butt still a slow leak. Going to the bone yard to get a used one. . 110k miles on the car so I'm guessing the plastic has worn. Is this a common area to have issues with? I should prolly order a factory replacement fort the future?

The larger clear dot on top of the filter cover lip is brake clean I didn't notice that was still there. But you can see from the mating area where the o ring is that it's slowly leaking down the side.
Was the gasket installed in the correct groove? Did you torque the cap down to 25nm?
I never had any leaks with my cap and I would usually just hand tighten it down, but picked up an oil filter wrench just because. I replace the o-rings with every oil change since they come with the Mann oil filters.
I believe it was in the correct groove. I have a bag habit of not changing the oring during oil changes. Put a new oring on and went to the junk yard and picked up a filter cover. Got home and it's bone dry. That's what I get for being lazy. I learn quick tho so it won't happens again. Thank you for all the help.
