Official w204 thread - Updated 01/17/07 (Last page - Official Press Release)
Then again, I overrate BMWs. The only reason why I like them is because 1, they handle well, a huge criteria for me and 2, the BMWs include maintenance when Mercedes doesn't.
I would presume your comment valid if i were white. Unfortunately for your sake, i'm not. Sorry bud, you're fish out of water on this one.
.Isn't it also ironic those were the same comments when our current generation debuted, and now everyone thinks it looks like a goddess?
I've noticed the same thing at Rush concerts. The loudest cheering is always for the songs that are for songs up to and including the previous album, but never for the one they are actually touring. They cheer for those on the next tour.
My two cents, I like the way the W204 looks in these pictures. If I were shopping new cars in the price range, and could wait long enough, I'd give it a close look.

While the W203 has no faults in the design, especially with the face lift, I still really like the W202.
My favorite S Class has been the W140, especially the 1999 model.
My favorite E Class has been the W210 2001, 2002 models.
I really like the older SL as well.
BMW wise, I really appreciate the 2001 740i Sport, 2003 540i and 530i Sport, and the E46 M3. Don't like much else from the BMW.
I guess I'm a sucker for older cars.
Yet, the new W204 C Class actually doesn't look bad in my opinion, most people here don't like it, but I don't mind it at all. But we'll have to see later on.

Overall, I think its a massive letdown.
I think its pretty amazing that the same spy shots weve been seeing for nearly three years now are spot on! ITs DULL!!!!! Lets see...Acura nose, Lexus's LS400 headlights....pretty plain profile, full diaper ***, and it has really ugly shaped tailights.

And that interior is nasty? Who thought they could make the steering wheel look worse? And what is going on at the centerstack? Where is MB going to put all that fake looking overly glossy wood?

The SLK is a very nice car on the exterior, but sit inside and look at the dashboard material. Feels like rubber.
The new S, everybody who's seen it in person that I am very familiar with haven't been too inspired by its styling.
The cars in the current Mercedes lineup that I appreciate are:
C,
2007 E (don't like the instrument cluster),
2007 CLK (don't like the instrument cluster with the big clock and digital gauges),
the SL,
CL,
SLR,
and the G.
If they would change the instrument cluster on the E and the CLK, I'd be more impressed.

It will probably have a flatter nose (notice that the bumper and the radiator grill are almost flat instead of the radiator grill set behind the bumper somewhat) to run over pedestrians without hurting them as much.
The body package will probably be similiar to that found in the new E Class after it's facelifted for the 2007 model year.
