why am i still getting P0002 after replacing HPFP
about 1 mo ago i was on the interstate and stepped on it to pass. Car buckled a bit then lost power and would not accelerate when pushed. Engine light came on. Checked codes and got P0002 - fuel volume regulator control circuit range/performance. After research, i took it to a shop and had the high pressure fuel pump replaced ($1k for the part, $1k labor, $200 misc).After that, all was good until last week. Same thing happened and engine light came on again. Mechanic suggested i use my code reader to erase the code then drive and see. Today same thing happened. Guess i wasted my money on the HPFP.
Any idea what the issue could be?

When you took the car in, did you tell the shop to replace the HPFP or did you describe the symptoms and let the shop determine the cause?
Unless you are absolutely certain of the cause of the problem, I would never tell a mechanic to replace an expensive item -- let them figure it out. But keep close eye on what they say and do.
Of course, doing your research first is important.
I tried to find test procedures for the P0002 error in XENTRY Simulation, but cannot. Sometimes you need to actually connect to your car and run diagnostics. XENTRY/DAS is really the best way to go if you are going to do your own diagnosis. XENTRY will walk you through all the troubleshooting steps. It is almost essential to have someone that knows what they are doing when using XENTRY.
Many of us here have memberships in the BenzNinja Club where Peter will remote into your laptop and run diagnostics on your car. He can then help pinpoint the problem. I recommend him because you have already thrown $2200 at the "problem" and it is still not fixed. If you are going to own a Mercedes, you need his help. Especially for older cars where the parts canon will cost more than the car.
