Losing oil very fast
My '09 C350 is losing a quart of oil within 500 miles. No apparent leak. Car is well maintained. Exhaust smoke looks ok. Passes smog inspection without any issue. What could be the problem?

Lost oil is going somewhere... It may be:
- leaking on the floor
- mixing with the coolant
- inside the engine intake
- burned through cylinders

- How many miles on your engine: 100 or 250kMi ?
- Oil change every year or 5kMi ?
- How is the car power response: weak or strong?
- What oil type ?

MB 229.5
The 2009 C350 recommended oil is not 5W-30.
Realize that after 2500.Mi this oil is much thinner than what the engine needs.
The old/hot W30 oil becomes a W20.
The old/hot W40 oil becomes a W30.
Consider switching to a better lubricant closer to MB stock Mobil1 5W-40 or better Motul 5W-40. This will help control oil consumption.

In my Operators manual it notes that the quantity of oil between the lower and upper marks on the dipstick is around 2qts.

You would measure how much you put in to get back to a given point...
