A number of people on the German car forum motor-talk.de reported the same problem. They attributed it to the new aluminum doors, which are lighter than steel and therefore require more force to close them properly.

I'm finding that I need to close each door with a lot of force before they actually fully catch the latch and close. When I say a "lot" of force, I mean more than I've ever needed to do with any kind of car, including cheap-o rentals with very light doors (anyone remember plastic Saturns??). If I'm on the outside, I pretty much have to slam it to get them to close fully.

Anyone else have this "issue"? Other than that..no other problems to report after half a day.. except Comand already froze once

Same here, on top of this, there is no indicator lights for unlock doors until you start driving which is a pain in the butt.

Funny enough, I was just bitten by this just this week. I was 50 yards from my house before the indicator went off. Kinda irked me a little as it was raining outside at the time. Would have been nice to tell me in my garage

Picture this, dropping the kids off at school with cars and cars line up behind you doing the same. Then you found out both back doors are not close as you're driving away and the kids have already went into the building. Slam on your brake 30 ft away and go out and around the car closing the doors while everybody watch. A brand new C300 no less.

I've certainly had my share of problems with my C300, but closing the doors hasn't been one of them. They need a firm push, but nothing unusual.

I would think the problems lie more with the weatherstripping than the door weight. Even a lighter door should still close easily ... inertia shouldn't really play much of a role in closing a car door.

As a side story, when we configured the car, my girlfriend kept asking me if we could order the "soft-close" door option that cars like the S-Class have. I had given her the "that's-the-dumbest-and-most-useless-option-I-could-ever-think-of" look at the time even though I knew it's not available as an option anyway.

I agree with StanNH that it likely more due to the weatherstripping than the doors being aluminum. Oh well, no big deal, just something to get used to

Perhaps, but given what that means on this side of the ocean, it's a whole different issue....you really want a tight seal!

I ordered a C400 last September and received it the end of Nov. It is white with the sport package and Premium as well as Command, Adaptive LED headlights, leather 19" AMG. I have 1900 Kms/1200 miles on it. I have had only one problem. The keyless didn't work one time. I have had no other problems.
The car has winter wheels and snow tires on it as I live in Calgary Alberta Canada. The tires are great but I haven't had a chance to really take the car out for "spin".
It is hard to tell from the manual what sytems are and are not installed on the car. It seems America has the ability to use the MB apps, there is no explanation why Canada doesn't get these things.
I have found the car to be amazing, it is quiet, fast and very enjoyable to drive in the snow! I can hardly wait for spring
I installed the Illuminated star using the info from this Forum, very easy! I am unable to find mudflaps for the front and rear of the car and I missed out on getting the rear spoiler from VFRTuning as he had run out of stock
I am loving this thing.

Forgot to mention that my brakes are squeaky as well, I will try the stopping trick on them. This wasn't required on my R Class though.

Found a tiny little draft from both the front windows... Has anyone else had this. If you put your hand/fingers really close to the top of the window while going highway speeds you can feel it ever so slightly.

Hey guys
Just got my new c180 w205 and here are the few problems i faced ,please share you thoughts:
1- the sount system is awful (audio 20) i had c180 w204 and the sound system was much better , what would be the best to adjust in settings ( base, trebble, midtone)
2- when i put car on ignition ( just lightning up all the lights) before starting the engine i smell gas smell and it disappers once i move .is that normal??
3- the remote didnt work once or twice to lock the car ,i had to get inside press the start/stop button just to make sure its totally off and get out to try locking it again.

Problems

Hi new C220 took delivery late July so an early build and was told was built in South Africa ( I am in UK).

Firstly did not get car out of showroom sat nav and command would not work had to take salesmans car home . This was a temp.fix collected car two days later then back following week for disc update.

Both front windows rattle when fully closed returned to dealer kept in for 3 days

Driving down motorway wiper linkage broke wipers got caught together and throw both across motorway new wipers and linkage fitted

In again for stearing recall

Car missing today yellow EML on no power, called out assistance the code says no power from transmission either a module or gearbox, the assistance guy says gearbox needs to come out.

I also have two exterior door curtesy handle lights not working a a fuel cover that doesnot site smooth and flat so I will ask them to do these as well

What do you guys think

Just unlucky.

Update from above post, car towed to garage yesterday. Parts have been ordered but they do not know when or how long they will take at present, need to ring then at end of week. They need to get help from mb as first fault of this kind ? And there is some sort of procudre to follow. However my drive is covered in transmission oil so assume something's blown or bust, either way it is a transmission problem.
When I rang I also moaned about a badly fitting fuel cap, that one door light was not working and also I mentioned that if you look at the front and rear passenger doors the door trim does not line up when both closed, this wasn't the case when I first got it. Don't think they were sure but when they rang back said a new light, new fuel cap and new crome trim had been ordered
Hopefully they won't do any damage fitting it
I have not seen transmission or door trim problems on here before

I had a poorly fitting fuel door and one door light out also. The car is at my dealer now, having the light and a few other items repaired.

The fuel cover is not adjustable. The only fix is to fit an entirely new assembly. On my car, the dealer's body shop managed to put several chips into the paint on the fender when they apparently had to pry out the old unit. That left the shop that way and required yet another trip to the dealer to have it repaired, when I noticed the damage. The new cover fits much better, but it's still not a perfect fit. After my last experience, it will have to be "good enough," because I won't let them touch it again.

Several owners have reported the outside door lights going out. Mine was out for a few weeks, then came on again intermittently. I think it's a voltage issue, since the intensity of the light is very bright when it's now on.

Your other issues are not at all common, but I'm sure the dealer will be able to put the car right for you. Good luck and please update when you can.

Received the car yesterday. It is exactly as it was supposed to be: no surprises. The only funny thing was the red warning flashing inside the speedo (that I supposed to be a severe malfunction, but later on I found out was just the collision prevention assist) Ahahah.

I had the same issue. Felt like a real idiot when the saleman explained that I had nothing to worry about.

Just in time for my second service appointment to have my ongoing check engine light diagnosed...a new problem arises I saw a little bit of condensation form in that headlamp off and on from the day I drove it home, but now it's just getting ridiculous.

I just had to go and open my big mouth. The MB-Tex issue is officially back, as of this morning. I never expected a <1yr old Mercedes-Benz to be my worst/most problematic car ownership experience, especially as a first-time luxury buyer. Even my Golf GTI with the dreaded self-destructing water pump went years before so much as hinting at any issues.

Edit: Also the inside of the problematic headlight has started to freeze. Hey guys, water-cooled headlights!

Door handle light service

Just got my C400 back from the dealer for the inoperative drivers door handle light. They determined there is power and ground to the light. The replacement light was back ordered and comes from Germany. It is due to arrive on February 9th.

Further to previous post, car returned today in garage 4 days, the problem was a burst cooling hose to the gearbox.MB also replaced fuel cap, trim on drivers door and exterior door light so all good.

On a bad note car 6 months old 10k miles and all tyres are down to 4mm this is going to be expensive!

What tire pressure are you running? Continental tires? Size?
