Getting the death stare from W204 owners

Well I've had my car for a few weeks and I'm loving it compared to my 2008 C300 except for a couple problems.

So anyways I live in an area with tons of W204's and I've been noticing I've been getting quite a few looks and stares driving around

Anyone else having the same experience?

Well I don't think they are actual "Death" stares
To be honest the W204 in my area was becoming the next Honda Civic so I think the new W205 is just eye candy for its newness and true good looks.
I think everyone on the road stares at it, pedestrians included and all the direct competition take a few sneak peeks as you drive past them. I have had a few of the German brothers change lanes and follow me around. This is what S+ was made for

Yes it's great Love the attention. I had a neighbor with a new 2015 E350 complaining about how he feels duped. "I Should have just gotten a C400" after sitting in my car.

Not a "death stare" at all. My son and I walked around one in a parking lot to check it out again, (he hadn't see one in the flesh), but it's not something either of us would want, although my wife likes the "mini S Class" look. It's down to that or waiting to see the next gen E Class.

People look for lots of reasons, some positive. How do you know they weren't just looking at you!?!? LOL!

Driving them both should make this one very clear. The W205 is a far superior automobile in many ways. Look beyond appearances.

I have a P31 C63 in one of the most unique colors (Quartz blue) and you can call it death stare or whatever, but I absolutely adore the W205 and spent quite some time "checking" one out.

I wouldn't call it a death stare though..

In traffic at a stop light, a guy in a newer Audi sedan pulled up next to me in my C400 and was yelling at me. I couldn't hear him due to the quiet interior and the sound system. I figured I cut him off or something. I turned the sound off and realized all he was saying was "nice looking car" and he gave a thumbs up (not the finger I originally expected).

I notice many BMWs and Audis drivers stopping just behind and to the side of me a stop lights checking out the C400. I had the rear badging removed, so I'm not sure if they're admiring it or wondering what it is.

People stare at me regardless what I drive because I'm a chick magnet! I'm prone to improve any car's visual factor!
I'm also known to be humble to a fault!

The W205 attracts a lot of attention in SA & there are already plenty of them on the road. The W204 sold well here because it was a good car but the styling was not generally loved.

W205 has fixed that. South Africans like the organic lines much as they did the W203.

If world economies hold up I predict this will be the best selling Merc in their history.

I know I definitely stare.....waiting to see one with Luxury trim. Haven't seen one yet. Around here, everyone is getting the same boring C300 in polar white with black tex. I imagine more "colorful" places like Miami and L.A. have nicer examples out on the streets. DC is conservative

not sure if the exterior of W205 is that much better than W204 but interior is definitely a step up

My opinion

I had never before been interested in a Mercedes until I saw the new w205 and fell in love at first sight. The w204 was an ok car but it didn't leave any impression on me. I felt it was for older drivers (I'm 41). The front end of the new c-class is in my opinion, the nicest car under 100k and even then I'd be hard pressed to find a better looking car at any price point period. I have some reservations about the rear but it is nicer than the rear of the w204 for sure. I never thought I would ever of thought of buying a Mercedes because they were very ordinary looking to me but now I can't wait to order mine. I'm just waiting for news on the AMG and the mysterious 450 before pulling the trigger.

I agree that front of W205 looks better and a lot of that has something to do with the new light cluster and daytime running lights. not too sure about rear though as I think the trunk area looks very short from some angles. I think W204 has a better side profile. But side by side W205 looks more modern and definitely stands out in the crowd. as I said before interior is best in class.

Stares for Starships

If you want stares, drive a Mercedes west of the Mississippi, especially through the Great Plains states. In June 2008, we took our then almost new and very shiny, pewter-grey 2007 C280W4 from Massachusetts to Denver and back. (Photos in my Signature below.) We easterners found out that west of the Mississippi, this great land of ours spreads out just a little! Early travelers often found that it was often a long way between water holes. Modern Mercedes drivers find out that it's long way between Mercedes dealerships. From the dealership in Lincoln, Neb., to the dealerships in Denver, it is almost 500 miles! So there weren't many Mercedes on the road. In rest stops on I-80 and I-76, we got stares as if we were driving a starship of a different kind!

not only do i agree with this, but i think when fully optioned out, its a better interior than some cars in the 100k price range. you can call me crazy but i have compared it to a lot of cars, including the new maserati ghibli, and i truly believe the C interior is way better.

my friend who has a 2013 7 series sat in my car and admitted my interior is better than his

I won't call you crazy...I've got a lot of Maserati experience and the Ghibli's interior is absolutely inferior to the W205.

I do think the w205 is good looking and not too different from the w204 on tne exterior. Having sat in several w205s last week I do feel that the C Class has moved on. The CLA is too dinky and too entry level and the w205 is too blingy for my tastes. The w204 seems to slot in between the two. I have the first model year c300. I love how straight forward and simple and solid it feels. Back to w201. I think MB was very focused with this car and true to Mercedes value and feel. There was so much in the press and forums about how much the w204 improved after the face lift. I may be the only person who preferred the original dash. It was clean and simple and actually looked like the slk dash. No extras. Yes, the w205 is nice looking but I just don't care as much for all the Baroque details. It reminds me of the difference between a w124 e and a w211 e. The w211 was so gooped up with round swirls and extra bits of this and that and kind of wandered into Jaguar territory on the inside. The w205 will have to grow on me. The outside looks like a MB, the inside kinda LexusJaggyInfiniti Bling fest.
