Squeaky Brakes. C400. Cold definitely the instigating factor. Happens below about 20 F. Brakes will do it as soon as they cool down after any driving. This winter has had record cold in Northern Maine with average temperature in February 0.4F, and March so far at 14.8F. Local dealership says hold tight. MB realizes issue, solution tested and changes in production. Sounds like rotor and pad upgrade will be the solution. May be 2-3 months before repair parts available. Hopefully before next winter!

Funny - I was backing out of my driveway this morning and had my first squeal. Definitely the coldest morning since I've had the car. Was fine the rest of my drive. Have to see if this is a consistent occurrence. It will probably be at the end of the winter by the time I have my first service appointment, so I'll need to to decide whether to take it in to be looked at or not.

Yesterday was the first time I heard a squeal from my brakes. I did a few high speed braking runs and the noise is gone.

I talked with my local dealer today. They said there's no service bulletin for this issue. The guy I talked with was searching the computer while we were talking. Any luck from your guys? It is definitely going to get worse as winter is approaching.
This morning it screeched like hell.

There is 100% a fix. My dealer found the bulletin and ordered new pads with different shim angles. Placed them on my front rotors and they do not squeak at all in cold weather. He said it was the same fix they had to do with similar brake pads in a recent S class model 2-3 years ago.

To add to this, I actually traded in my C400 a few days ago and own a C450, however, the fix was on the C400 and it worked without question. Also, interestingly, my C450 doesn't do it, either because the fix was part of the build or the larger brakes and/or different pads at the factory doesn't cause the squeak. I had my C400 for 1 month with the new pads and had temps as low as 24 degrees, car cold, no problems.

You can try to have your dealership pre-order the parts (i assume it's the braking pads) so that they can change them out in 1 visit.

I have front brake pads and shims replaced. But I can still hear the screeching noise from the rear brake (not sure, but significantly less noisy, and probably not from front).
Did any of your guys change the rear pads/shims as well?

When I was getting my snows put on I asked my local garage about this. He showed me the rust that forms almost instantly, from condensation, on the brakes. The perforated ones on the Sport were really bad. He said the pads hitting the oxidation are what's causing the noise, and it goes away as soon as the rust is gone.
Is this only affecting the Sport models with perforated brakes? I'm wondering if the solid ones used on the base and Luxury models have the same issue.

My wifes car has had this problem when backing up in the cold since we purchased in Jan 2015, it has had many tries to repair it. She is now on a list to get the complete braking system replaced to rectify the problem, MB is aware of it.
My bigger issue is that after the first attempt at repair they screwed up the alignment and it basically cost me two new front tires after 10k miles which they attributed to her style of driving... (they did actually pay for one, but that's a long story)

I also have the loud screeching in the mornings. This problem only started when the temperatures got cold (~45F). After a few screeches, the brakes "warm up" and everything is fine.
But still, the screeching IS very loud and shouldn't happen in such a pricey car. My brothers Honda Accord doesn't screech at all.
