Suggestions for the next firmware update(Comand or Audio 20)
I'm not sure if/when Mercedes will release a software update for the W205 but I thought we could try and compile a list of minor and major improvements that could be made to the in-car system. Also could someone advise where this thread could be submitted to get the attention of the relevant team at Mercedes, so we could hopefully improve the car with the help of the MBWorld community.
I'll start by suggesting the first few updates based on my experience with Comand:
*Option to start up the vehicle with auto stop/start disabled
*Remove the back seat belt warning on start up
*Start up with last selected agility mode
*Ability to sort music into folders on Comand built-in hard drive
*Play music in random order from SD card folders, not entire SD card library
*More customisation settings on Burmester system.
That's a few I can think of. Do you agree with these? Any more suggestions?

1. Improve reliability of the Keyless Go functions. The push to start and door unlock functions can get flaky at times. I have had to use the emergency key too often to get into the car, and removed that push to start button many times to put the key in so I could start the car. (Fresh batteries in fobs .)
2. Remember last Agility setting, rather than default to Comfort.
3. Simpler, more intuitive structure for Comand.
4. Enable memory functions for the key fobs, so seat memory can be engaged with a press of the unlock button ... like on every other car in the world.

Don't make me press the steering wheel arrows twice to move up or down a playlist/preset list. If I press it up once, go up/back one song/station.
Ability to disable the touchpad. I don't use it that often and have accidentally touched it changing things quite a few times.
Instead of treble/mid/bass setting on audio, provide me with an equalizer.
Currently, if I have the temperature set to HI, when I press the temperature arrow UP nothing happens. I was not sure it registered my press so I continued to press it. Eventually I realized it was designed this way. I had to press the button down to 84 degrees (F) then back up to confirm I was on HI. I just want it to bring up the little bar at the bottom and tell me I am already on HI without having to go down one degree then back up.
Alow me to focus the HUD (not necessarily COMAND, is it?). I am taller and try to place the HUD so it is visible for both me and the wife. The place where it can be seen by both of us puts it slightly out of focus for me (the main driver). If I move it up or down a little it comes into focus but then is not entirely visible by both of us.
Try and make Keyless Go work 100% of the time. I am hovering around 85% currently with unlocking my doors.

Needs a lot of moving of menus. Wifi and Bluetooth menus in particular.
Being able to save anything as a favorite (ie car lock settings, lighting settings)
And speed dial with one click would be my top two easy fixes.
Will comand update on its own ever, or always requires dealer visit? How would you know there's an update even available?

1. Door warning whenever the door is not close properly not after the car is in motion.
2. Option to have the Distronic graphic stays on the small display.
3. Seat memory can be recalled with one press of the button rather than pressing on it until the seat is moved to it's set memory.
4. Customize seat and Agility settings for each key fob
5. Home button with password on GPA.
I know these are not software changes:
6. Move steering wheel buttons from one side to the other. I like to be able to use both hands to control volumn and phone; currently you could only do that with your right hand.
7. Replace computer buttons with curise control buttons on the steering wheel. I use the curise control way more than the on-board computer while driving.

Have been recently caught by #1 twice and #2 just irks me to no end.

1. Android Auto (and CarPlay). Seriously, this would be one of the main reasons why I'm waiting for the 2016 MY, incase it's not just a software update
2. WiFi tethering to a cellphone for the apps, rather than just bluetooth
3. Ventilated leather seats option on the C300 in Canada (only the C400 has this option)

Make it so it displays the song/artist on the speedo display when you have it set to radio, annoys me to death that it shows it on the large screen and in the pop up bar on the large screen but not if you choose to have it on the smaller display.

1. Activate standard apps (Facebook, weather, Google local search) on Audio 20 systems
2. Fix ip radio
3. Add option for Garmin to only read traffic information out loud (while muting turn-by-turn)
4. Carplay

It just annoys me that more apps are described in the manual (for Comand & Audio 20), but not available when you buy/receive the actual car.
Note: Comand online is not technically required to run these apps; MB just need to get their act together and start providing (or selling) more apps!

I would also like them to add the ability to lock the car from the outside while the engine is running(keyless go). This is a much used feature in winter to warm up the car without sitting in it. It's standard on BMWs.

That is illegal in the UK. A) it's bad for the environment, b) the car is left unattended under power, if something went wrong there's a potential for fire, explosion, noxious gas collection or for the vehicle to move under its own power and kill or injure. C) it makes it easier to steal.

Found that the Distronic graphic does stays on yesterday, it's deep in the computer menu.
Add two,
1. better connection to the internet. The current one sucks, 95% of the time it does not connect
2. hot spot for the car.

This is my first MB so I'm not aware how they handle software updates. For those with MBs before, how have they historically handled providing free software updates for cars that have already been purchased in the following scenarios:
1. Bug fixes
2. Minor functionality tweaks (e.g. optimizing the Command menu flow)
3. New functionality (e.g. something like CarPlay)
My previous experience with Lexus is that they would only do #1, but hopefully MB treats buyers better.

One more ... why can't the odometer be shown beneath the digital speedometer display? There's even a blank space where the odometer should be. I think this may be the only car I've ever owned that requires you to scroll to a different screen to see that odometer.

Add road speed limit information
- Add current road speed limit information
- Add beep or other notification if car is over a settable threshold over speed limit (e.g., 5mph over speed limit)

Fix the iPod/iPhone/iPad interface
- Fix the iPod/iPhone/iPad interface. Now, it seems to freak out with podcasts (can't find some, stops playing, doesn't start from where it was left off COMAND even reset itself a couple of times)
- I suspect this is because (a) podcasts are from a separate app (Podcasts) instead of integrated into Music, and (b) the Podcast app shows episodes even when they haven't been downloaded from the cloud.
- In any case, this needs a firmware/software change

There are some great suggestions on this thread. Does anyone know the link/email address at mercedes that we could send this to and hopefully get their attention?
