new C300 with Engine noise

I am about to buy a fully loaded 2015 C300 with 19k miles on it.
The bulletin says "Engine 274.920 (LS) Modified wrist pins are installed as of engines: 274 920 E0 043259 (as of about April 20, 2015) and 274 920 30 406602 (as of about March 27, 2015)"
The engine info from the vin dump says 274920 E0 054561. Since my engine number is higher than 043259, does it mean no wrist pin issue?
The delivery date was : 07/02/2015
Are these engine numbers sequential?

So,
I noticed this "rattling" sound when I drove my first w205 (2015 C300) loaner. Thought it was something out of the ordinary, until I drove another loaner (which made the same noise during a cold start). THEN, I actually leased one with 0 miles, and it too does the same exact thing.
Problem is - you need to simply drive your car smoothly (not roughly) until it has reached its optimal temperature. This noise only happens during the warm-up of the car. Also (on that note), i would not recommend letting it idle during a cold start. You're supposed to immediately shift it in Drive and accelerate slowly until it has reached its optimal temp (but I guess that would be for another forum page)!
As far as the noise - it doesn't sound too attractive, but it was definitely engineered this way; and, there is absolutely nothing wrong with your car.
Those who actually had their cars "repaired" for this "problem" really need to just let the engine warm up and stop worrying about how an engine sounds when it's cold because it really just goes away after a few minutes.

I agree. My 2016 C300 is very clicky.. sounds like I'm driving a 1973 Deisel. And the ride is very bumpy and harsh - as expected, since I have the c300 "AMG" package... HOWEVER, my coworker has a 2018 C300 Service Loaner, and this this is great! Took me for a spin. NO engine noise, and the same "AMG" package, rides so much smoother and quieter than mine. I don't know if these are changes between the 2016 and 2018 car, or mine is just a defective vehicle... will have to ask next time I'm at the shop

Was this an issue with just the 2015's? I recently purchased a 2017 C300 Coupe and the attach video is the sound I am getting. Not sure what it is. When I Accelerate it gets slightly louder, but then disappears in normal noise of the engine. Also, when in Park, when I accelerate the noise get up a bit, but the moment I step off the pedal the sound stops all together until it gets back down to idle. Any thoughts?

My car is doing the same exact thing. I've had the wrist repair done earlier this year. Now that the fall weather has hit, my car is making that noise again. I'm going to take it in to the dealer this afternoon to get it checked out. It's simply unacceptable for a luxury car to be making this DIESEL noise.
Getting so worried, so yeah if you get some feedback please share.

This is welcome news to hear. Thanks for sharing. Been concerned, so a bit relief.

You're welcome. I came from a 2014 C250 (W204) and had driven several W205 loaners over the past few years, but not enough to notice the noise. At first I was convinced something was wrong, but I found too many threads of the same report and it's just the noisy injectors these engines have. After my engine is warmed the noise is almost discernible from the general engine noise.

I'm pretty sure thats not the wrist pin noise. I was only able to hear it when revving to 2k and then releasing the gas, as the rpms drop thats when it was most noticible.

You guys cannot measure a noise under the hood and worry about it. Can you hear it in the car?
The engines are noisy, very much so. But as long as the insulations in place are preventing you from hearing anything in the car, it's normal.

Yes, the noise I'm referring to is audible inside of the vehicle, but again, only for the first minute or so after a cold start. It's something I stopped worrying about after hearing enough people report that it is normal for this engine.

Wrist Pin Repair....I have a 2015 c300 and had the repair done two years or so ago. Engine has been really noisy lately so I brought it in the be checked out. Has a message today , they are taking apart the lower half of the engine to see where it's coming from. Anyone ever have anything like this ? Is it possible the wrist pin fix may not be a permanent repair in some instances? Car is almost out of warranty , I'm concerned as to future issues and cost. Thanks

Out of warranty repair?
Bought my 2015 (10/2014 build) C300 4matic from 3rd party dealer, when I test drove it everything seems to be find, I didn't notice any abnormal noise resembles the wrist pin issue, now my car is three weeks out of warranty I start to notice it! I only hear it from time to time, but there are few times it's very similar to the symptoms people described here.
It really sucks that the previous owner never addressed this issue, and it start to develop problems after the warranty has expired. Is this part only covered by the standard 4 year/50,000 miles warranty, or are there special terms associated with it since it's a manufacturer defect? I'd imagine repair cost out of pocket will be prohibitively high (>$7000?).
After all these years are there any definitive answers to the question of whether unrepaired wrist pin noise will damage engine cylinders? I'm also reluctant about repairing it since I don't have much confidence in my local MB dealer in the first place, people's bad experience of botched repairs further concern me.
The car has 42,000 miles on it, and Carfax shows all of its services were done at MB dealers, during purchase I had the car inspected at my local MB dealer and they didn't note wrist pin issue.

You might be hearing the injectors. I would take it to another dealer and consider purchasing an after market warranty that covers it if you can confirm you have the issue. I had mine repaired 2 years ago and I can easily convince myself the noise is still there when the injectors are noisy on cold starts. Good luck!

My clatter sound doesn't just happen when the engine is cold, but coming off freeway and slowing down I can notice that too, that's the difference between my sound and what people are describing here....

Hey Guys,
Just bought a 2015 c300 form a third party. Doesn't have the warranty anymore. expired in November. I initially didn't hear a sound, But I noticed it today cold start but went away. What is the consensus, did all the pre-April 2015 c300 have the issue or only some. And what will happen if I continue and cant get it fixed ?
