Yes, there are a lot of variables and that's why I said I'm not sure if it's a result of the engine rebuild or not. I'm averaging 23 mpg for my first half tank too - and I was typically averaging around 27 mpg - so just something to keep an eye on.

Ok. I will wait for the rebuilt until sometime in the summer. After I turn 25, I can have a Mercedes loaner, YES!

I don't wanna drive a FIAT for 3 weeks while I am paying a lease for a Mercedes though I have been doing it for a long time as my car went to shop every month... 17 times in the shop - 10 months ownership. I should say driving different cars every month is AWESOME!
I am just kidding...

This is disgraceful. You DO have a very competent attorney general who does pursue unfair trade practices.

I have contacted several of them. I had met both "multiple attempts for one problem" and "30 days out of services". But the problems were not "significant" enough... Maybe after the engine repair, when I have 70 days out of service, I will seek help again. There's nothing really I can do at this point - I learned this sentence really well from Mercedes haha.

Several of whom? NY has only one attorney general. Did you raise the engine defect issue at any time? I think giving you a crap engine, followed by a crap rebuild, while being forced to drive a kiddie car is an UNFAIR TRADE PRACTICE. Notice I said unfair, not deceptive. Maybe you are too young to understand that you don't stop with the first clown you encounter, but keep going up the hierarchy at the ag's office. The lower level clowns already have too many acts and aren't looking for more performances.

I commute 5 days a week about 20 miles each way on the same freeway.

Thanks for the advice.
I searched the internet and found several attorneys. I told them about the engine issue, but they said they had to reference to work invoice and I haven't yet got the engine rebuilt. Both attorneys and MBUSA told me the loaner car provided by the dealer was a courtesy, not a requirement, and since I am under age, I have nothing to complain about.

So should I contact the AG? I assume I search the contact info online? Sorry I have no experience dealing with attorneys.

From my long repair experience with this car, it's always a second visit for the same problem, or else a new problem will come up after the repair.......

Two examples for new problem: My windshield got replaced because the wipers chattered like crazy. Then my head up display was distorted/lose of focus.
Brake pad replaced due to squealing. Then it caused brake ticking noise.

Thumbs down Disconnecting the battery is NOT a good idea

Everything is working now, so I will wait and see if it happens again.
Disconnecting the battery is NOT a good idea. A lot of other things can go wrong. At a minimum, you will lose all your settings (radio presets, etc.). If it were my dealer, I would tell them, "YOU do it, so if anything goes wrong, it is on your watch. Then you can fix it before you give the car back."

I just got my car back from engine rebuild. So far the MPG has been about the same. I just refueled it yesterday. It will take around a week to figure the actual mpg. I am fairly certain I am not seeming as significant difference as what you reported (27 to 23 mpg.) It seem just the same as before.

I will report back on mpg once I get enough miles.

No, I have not heard that sound. That does not sound like the wrist pin issue to me. I would take it to the dealer and have them check that out. Good luck!

My dealer has described it has high pressure oil pump. Not sure if that's what it is.

Bad news. double check with dealer. It's really hard to catch it. not so many chances that will show it to dealer. Video is not a reason for them to start doing smth

Hello all, for those who has the wrist pin issue repaired, should I be taking it easy on the car for a while? Is there a break-in period as if the engine was new?

I dropped mine off on Monday for the wrist pin repair. I checked on it today and was told it would be ready on Wednesday and the dealer would drive it for 100 miles to properly break it in and said I could drive it as I usually do.

The reason for the delay in the repair is due to the fact a tool broke and they had to order a replacement.

I asked this very question and the SA told me no that it's not necessary. Car seems to be running very well but my MPG seems a bit lower on this first tank. Not sure if its a result of the engine rebuild or not.

For mine they had both the tech who did the repair and the shop foreman test drive it. Put 80 some odd miles on it.

I just got my mpg after using about 1/2 tank. The mpg is much worse than before. I used to get no worse than 23 mpg and often average more than 25 mpg. Today, I got 20 mpg. That is very bad. I am loosing faith.

I brought my c300 for service A to dealer and just asked (not seriously) if mechanic could check if mine had wind noise or engine clicking noise issue. It was not clear to me that there was clicking sound during first 3-5 minutes of cold start. After an hour dealer asked me to leave my car to fix engine internal parts and they gave me a loaner car. It seems that they need 2 weeks to order and fix engine parts. OMG. If it is that serious and clear defect, why does MB do recall ? I am afraid if it really affects engine performance or milage.

It's a terrible feeling being told you need the engine rebuild isn't it? I've had my car back for almost 2 weeks now and I can report that from an engine performance standpoint, I do not notice any loss of power whatsoever. If anything, the car almost feels a bit stronger to me. MPG however appears to be worse. So far I'm averaging about 3 - 5 MPG worse than I was before the rebuild.

Welcome to the club. I have 2100 miles on the car since the rebuild. Millage is consistently down 3-4mpg since before the rebuild. I brought it up to the SA at the dealership after 600 miles. Said the engine needed to get broken in again. The subsequent 1500 miles have had no change to the observed MPG.

The Best or Nothing indeed!

I have driven more than 1000 miles since having the wrist pin issue repaired. My MPG is actually slightly better than it was before (average 26.4mpg with mixed traffic and if on lucky days where traffic on the highway is lighter and I get to cruise at an average of 50mph then I can hit 30mpg or so).

Before it was an average of 25.x mpg with mixed traffic.

Engine is just as strong as before.
