The most critical factor in negotiating a strong deal for the C450 is how eager the dealer is to move the car. I emailed every dealer in a 250 mile radius with a C450 I could live with, and only one would make the 16% deal. The next best offer I had was 12% including the fleet discount.

In my case, the dealer willing to come down the most had the car for 147 days, it was the end of the month, and the C43 is coming out in the fall. They were eager to get the car off the lot and add the sales amount to their monthly tally, even at a loss. Since each dealer and each vehicle will have a different set of circumstances, the best thing you can do is shop around to find the dealer most eager to move the car. I know there are plenty of dealers within a short driving range from Central NJ, so it cannot hurt to send a few emails with a flat yes/no proposal. Of course, if you are not out for the best deal and want to stay local, by all means try to squeeze out another couple percent.

As for the C43 coming out, the only significant change is the move to the 9 speed transmission. Is the current 7 speed perfect? No, but it is more than adequate. The thing is, you might be able to get invoice (or close) for a C43, but the massive $10k discount I received on the C450 made me forget all about the new model. As a side note, I took my coworker that has a newer IS350 F Sport for a ride, and he was blown away...and a bit jealous. You won't be disappointed by this car if you can get the discount you want. Best of luck.

Thanks MJ83...I would be happy with 12% + fleet discount. I am going to stop by the dealer on my way back home and shake some cages...

How are you guys getting the fleet discount? It says you have to have 15 or more vehicles registered to the company to qualify AND the MY15 discount is only $500 on the C class sedan. MY14 had a larger $2500 discount and I don't see MY2016 anywhere but is it back up to $2500?

As far as I know, fleet discount is available if
1- Your company is a business partner of MB (there are quite a few, so if your company has any discount lists, you may want to check)
2 - You are a USAA Member
3 - You are a PenFed Member
4 - You have Premier status with United airlines
5 - You buy in a fleet (like mentioned above)

Should add, current discount is $2300 on the 2016 Sedan, $1500 on the 2017 coupe, and nothing yet listed on the 2017 sedan. Good through 8/1/2016 when the numbers will change.
The discounts change month to month.

I got a fleet discount because my wife's company is a business partner of MB.

If you can't qualify through an employer try this:

First step join the National Military Family Association for $15. Helps a good cause and gets you membership.

Second step open an account with Pentagon Federal Credit Union. Your membership in NMFA gets you access.

Third step is you qualify for the current $2,300 incentive on 2016 C class or $1,500 for the 2017. (Plus various levels on any other MB)

Fourth you can also potentially qualify for a loan as low as 1.49% for 60 months which is what I did.

Hope that helps.

As an FYI, you need to be a member of PenFed for 60 days to get the MB discount. So, make sure you join well in advance of completing your purchase.

Shooooot...I was going to go with the Delta Credit Union loan you had told me about previously, but it looks like this will be the route I take to finance the C43. Thanks bro!

Thanks for the info. I was just going to get the USAA discount (only $500) on my C43 but I will definitely go the PenFed route. They have a much better fleet discount

The Fleet discount for USAA and PenFed should be exactly the same, for any given month. Unless you are adding in PenFed's car buying service with the fleet discount, in which case you may arrive at a different price.

H&R lowering springs?

Looking to buy these springs but I don't want my car too low. I upgraded from a Nissan 350z and I don't want to repeat history and blow out several front bumpers.

If you have specs on your low + settling, let me know.

Lowers 1.25" in the front and back. Only time you need to be careful is when parking in a lot with high curb stops

Ah well that little tidbit killed the deal for me! I tried to contact Ron at MB Caldwell in NJ because they had three white/BLK C450's with the driver assistance package but he basically blew me off so I instead took delivery of the car I spec'd and just had to skip the fleet discount since I didn't have a practical way of qualifying for it (self employed). Very pleased with the car so far, it really is gorgeous inside and out in a way Mercedes cars haven't been for a decade. The 7 speed is actually fantastic, I can't imagine how the 9 speed could be an improvement or even necessary.

In the showroom:

Your setup looks really clean! I've been thinking about aftermarket rims. What are the specs of the ones you have?

Oooooo. Good idea with the blue calipers. It's a clean look on palladium.

I am getting the Awe Touring exhausts installed at their facility in Horsham PA this coming wed. Excited!! Will post pics!

I originally ordered the track edition but I've noticed that if the slight drone from the stock exhausts already bother me on some days, the track edition will probably give me migraines

Installation of the AWE exhaust went smoothly, Josh even helped me shoot some clips of the exhaust in action around AWE's facility (Thanks again Josh!). Yesterday was also the day of my weekly roundtrip visit to NYC from Philly and my first impressions on the exhaust is that....::drum roll:: AWEsome! It is exactly the tone I was looking for, initially I had ordered the track edition because I wanted something louder, however, after much consideration (5 week lead time, which is now shortened to 2) I decided that the drone might become unbearable and driving in ECO or COMFORT is out of question. So Touring Edition it is! and boy did I make a good choice! The exhaust is much louder and deeper on idle and especially during acceleration, I can now feel the rumble in the cabin on start up, and the sound bouncing off my surrounding during drive-by's instantly put a devilish grin on my face. TBH, I think it is louder than the upcoming C43's performance exhaust package will ever be, and this is referring to the Touring Edition, which means the TRACK Edition must be super rowdy!

I posted up a video doing mini tunnel blasts through central park on my instagram that you guys can check out: @sirtwizzy

Saw your Instagram, sounds pretty damn good!
On a side note, what kind of dog hammock are you using in the photos? It looks like it fits well and should keep pooch from coming up front while I'm driving. My 4 month lab is still small enough where I don't mind him on the seat, but he is getting big quickly.
Orvis has this handsome (expensive) number.
