If you add the tune its still a 3k difference plus you wouldnt expect the manufacturer to add any price for simply giving you a different engine and transmission "mapping". A fully equipped C450 without the fancy seats is 67. They jacked up the price, a lot. Whether the magnetic shocks are worth a 5k premium over the airbags is highly suspect. Ive had magnetorheologic dampers before (on an Acura) they were indeed better than the "standard" at the time, however, I did buy the next model of the same vehicle which didnt offer ferrofluid shocks and the new car handles just as well as the one with the variable shocks. The airbags on the C class work quite well though you cant ratchet them to butt pounding levels. Id love to see an actual test head to head to see mags vs bags offer any quantifiable advantages.
I got my C450 equipped w cran red leather interior, back up cam, pano roof for 53k after a 5% discount and $1k off. got it cheaper than a comparably configured c400

No night package plus on the configurator. I am wondering if they dropped this option. Tmoney and I both might be headed to the body shop to have are diffusers painted black.

The only semi-bright spot is the cost is almost spot on to the order sheet.
$63,795 M-B Configurator

$64,095 Order Sheet
300 Less Night Package Plus
$63,795 Net Order Sheet
Actually the White diffuser is growing on me as I see other C class sports with it. It kinda brings out the bottom rear of the car by outlining the fender around the exhaust

Even more frustrating - my car has been at the dealer in Switzerland for over a week, but the paperwork won't be ready until next Thursday. The Swiss do love their paperwork! Anyway, just in time for my road trip to Italy!

The price difference is not $5K. My well-loaded C450 config is $64,785 (posted previously). An identically-optioned 2015 C400 with Airmatic is $63,465. That's a price difference of $1,320. The only option difference is I don't have vented seats but I do have the Night Package Plus.

I didn't get DAP, Air Balance, or side shades. Adding these to "max out" the C400 brings the MSRP to $66,445. Those remaining options cost the same on the C450. The additional availability of the AMG seats, steering wheel, contrasting seat belts, and a host of designo choices is why a C450 can push $70K.

I agree it's hard to quantify the uprated engine mapping, reprogrammed 7GTRONIC Plus/4MATIC, Airmatic vs. AMG adaptive dampers, and the C450's upgraded bodywork, HUD and IP. But the $1320 difference easily covers the C63 front suspension, steering and brakes and AMG sport exhaust system that the C450 has over the C400.

YIKES!! A week at the dealer seems excessive.

Mine is not expected to arrive until next week. I hope that I can complete the paperwork faster in the US.

That's it. Same car. It says "Available per request at: Mercedes-Benz of Fairfield" while the 50+ 2016 C300s say "Available Now". Not sure what that all means except that I shouldn't expect to see or drive a C450 if I show up at the dealer. I can wait.

Exactly...

It's bizarre that they did that, it seems like a test 450 that they put into the system.

Either a test or a marketing ploy so people interested in the car, now that it is being released (and may be seeing some additional press), don't see that the dealer has none. This way the dealer gets a visit or a phone call at least. Maybe I'm just getting to cynical as I age....

You are in fact correct, I redid the configurator and it came out to 63 today. I have no idea of how I got to 67 before, my bad. So maybe not the huge boost in price I thought.

In the end, we all know the C450 doesn't carry much of a premium over the C400. the $2k difference is nothing compared to the improved exterior, engine mapping, brakes, and suspension of the 450. I was really close into getting the 400 as well, until I read into the offerings of the 450 and decided it was well worth the wait.

I should be expecting my white on cranberry red c450 anyday now...hopefully tomorrow bright n early so i can take it out for a joyride..break it in a little =p

I think the configurator is still messed up...

1. It says that the Burmester System is standard in one place and then an extra cost in The P2 package
2. I thought the LED headlight were supposed to be standard

Yep, not just on the C450, but it's messed up for all C Class builds. Hard to believe MBUSA could be that messed up on their website.

Honestly I do not know why MBUSA does not copy the German website and just and English translations and USD. The C450 was listed on the German website since March 2015 and shreds the MBUSA website. Once the DOG was released it took me 10 minutes to order my car at the dealer since I already new what I wanted.

It was like Ross Perot spoke about regarding healthcare "if you cannot create a better plan than copy one that works that is better and less expensive". Sorry to those youngsters that need to look-up on wikipedia who Ross Perot is/was.

Well, I'm definitely not one of those kids. I certainly know who Ross Perot is (he is still alive at 85 years old).

I too used the builder for my C300, which I printed out and took with me when the car was officially ordered last month.

Given how messed up the MBUSA builder is now, I can see someone just getting frustrated and giving up.

I actually wrote MBUSA this afternoon to let them know the build your car feature was a mess and needs to be fixed.

I hope MB responds to your message positively. I left a message yesterday with my salesperson asking what the impact would be on how I configured my order due to start 9/28 for a late Oct. delivery. I ordered the leather interior but without the surround sound option. I'm thoroughly confused as it shows it standard at one point, and part of a package later. He has yet to get back to me. I'm sure he's as puzzled as we are.

Makes me wonder what will actually come on my car. It's not a C450, but the lady who places orders seemed pretty confident the options we chose (pretty much everything except 4Matic [not needed in hot Florida], heads up display and lighted MB Star on the front), were accepted by the order system.

I would expect MB to respond politely to my email. They certainly need to know the build part of MBUSA is completely messed up.

The website also lists "handcrafted engine" in the model detail page. Bizarre.

Almost exactly the configuration I'm thinking of with two exceptions. As I understand it, the Air Balance Package takes up most of the glove box and I find that undesirable. Also, you do not have a Parking Package. This includes a rearview camera, ultrasonic sensors and hopefully surround view cameras. All very important IMO. The surround view cameras appear to be back ordered so the package may not include them.

The discount that you received brings the price below what I believe the invoice price to be. This is phenomenal at this point in the model year. Would you share the dealer name with me?
