this is your car.. c400 is my wifes car.

Keep up the good work bro. To the majority of the world C400 and C450 are hard to tell apart and the AMG tune and suspension are what make you happier. Great.

Dude, I'm not quick to judge posters on the forum, but you come on a C450 only thread extolling the virtues of a C400, start inflaming the ones who this thread is for, and then keep firing back at the C450 owners or soon to be owners?

I'll call a spade a spade. You're a DICK.

C450
Viper, just adding my congrats on the car. As so many other have said, the interior is striking. What a wonderful combination with the upholstery and the silver carbon fiber. Very impressive with an already beautiful interior. My concern has been whether this extra sporty version of the C300 would have too firm a ride for me and the missus. But just this afternoon I had the chance to drive the first C450 to arrive in my neck of the woods, and I can safely say that the ride is very comparable to the ride of my Acura Tl. I'm sure the car will receive her stamp of approval so I won't have to wiggle out of the deal I have with the one I have on order. Should be here in a couple weeks . . . I hope! Again, way to go on your new arrival!!!!

That's not the type of endorsement that excites me about my pending C450 order.

2012 BMW 328i
C450 Lease too much?

Hi All,

This is my first time posting on MBWORLD. I currently drive a 2012 BMW 328i (fully loaded, I've enjoyed it) that is coming off lease soon. I'm either going to go for a 340i or C450 this time around.

I see people talking about this car leasing for $9XX/mo. Is that not insane for a $60k car? The rule of thumb I'm used to is about 1%/mo of the MSRP for a lease with no down payment (aside from drive-off fees). Curious to hear your thoughts and if anyone here has leased one of these.

Thanks!

Thanks
I am looking at a similar package trough TireRack. I am not sure if I will go with: 5 @ 240 210 Sottozero Serie II - 225/45R18 (an extra for a spare) or

2 @ 240 210 Sottozero Serie II - 225/45R18 & 2 @ 240 210 Sottozero Serie II - 245/40R18.

The staggered look will look nicer but the 4 lower profile tires will be more functional and more cost effective.

I wasn't sure how well the speed limit info would be displayed (from a frequency standpoint), but it seems to be spot on. So the setting that I have it on provides speed, current speed limit, next NAV turn, next NAV turn distance, time to final destination and final destination distance.

As well as it worked on my drive home, I would buy it for the speed limit alone.
Did you get different HUD settings with the Designo seats? I switched it to a different setting than what was the factory setting but I only get NAV instructions and my speed? I LOVE this option!! It is a must have option for people that have not ordered their C450.

If you want to lease the vehicle, this is not your car. I am sure you will have more favorable residuals with the 340i. But one look at the C450 interior and you maybe moving northeast from Munich to Stuttgart.

US Mercede's VINs start with 55SWF, you'll have to check the dealer inventory of a dealer in your country.

C450 First Impressions

I drove the C400 in July 2015. The handling and power, not to mention the beautiful interior, blew my mind. This was the car for me. Unfortunately, the factory wasn’t taking orders anymore. Besides the more powerful, better handling C450 was coming in September. Worth the wait IMO especially since I couldn’t order a C400.

Finally, it’s here and I drove one. As good as the power and handling were in the C400, the C450 blows it away. I drove one with 18” Continental Pro Contact all-season tires and it far exceeded my expectations. I would say that for street use it was comparable to or better than the M3s that I have driven. I was ready to order one and negotiated a deal that fully met my expectations on cost, trade-in value and delivery date.

Before I signed, I decided to take another drive and concentrate on the secondary attributes of the car. Two things immediately jumped out at me. First, my love for the handling and power was immediately reinforced. Second, the exhaust sound, which sounded cool and invigorating on the first drive, became annoying and bothersome. Cruising at 70 on the Interstate in any of the three Dynamic Select modes produced a constant droning that I know I would come to hate. Think glasspack muffler. Not my cup of tea. It’s probably a deal breaker, but I will go back next week for another evaluation.

Other observations.
  1. The interior is a knock-out.
  2. The navi display is not as good as the one in my four year-old BMW, but it will do the job.
  3. The speed limit indicator on the HUD apparently works off of the NAVI using stored information. It did not show up on most non-main streets. The one on my BMW uses cameras to detect the roadside speed limit signs. Even those in construction zones. Not a deal breaker though.
  4. Road noise (not wind noise) was worse than expected. Again, not a deal breaker, but also not consistent with a $65,000 car.
  5. The ride in comfort mode was more harsh than the C400 with airmatic. It’s worth it because of the superior handling.
  6. You can permanently turn off the auto start/stop feature in the individual Dynamic Select mode. I’m thankful for that.
Bottom line. I’ve got to trade off the annoying exhaust sound for the exceptional handling and power which I doubt I will find in any other car in this price range.

Yeah, I think with the black leather (darker overall interior), I would opt for the Carbon Fiber, I think that looks pretty sweet.

Great looking ride man! Congrats to all those that have picked up their ride recently!

My car supposedly will be delivered this Wed, but we will see...They keep pushing the estimated date of arrival back a couple days every time I check

Will be posting pics once I finally pick up....

Has anyone ever run the lease vs buy equation? I got my dealer down to $918/mo on a reasonably loaded C450. A 60-mo finance option would be $1,137/mo.

If I buy, and assuming a 58% residual at the end of 3 years, I have effectively paid only around $6k for using the car for those 3 years, the rest I can "recover" by selling the car. On the other hand, leasing is $33k out of pocket for those same 3 years.

The buy payments are only $200/mo more than the lease payments. Am I missing something here?

....
Does the drone occur in top gear around 1600-1800 rpm in top gear going up a slight freeway hill?

So does anyone know if the C450 AMG uses a speaker inside the cabin to increase the exhaust noise? Audi did this on the B8.5 S4 (2013 up). On the B8.5 S4 some people turn off or disconnect the the speaker. Has MB followed through with the same "feature"?
