Yeah, I agree with you guys... the power is fine. Actually, there is nothing funner than giving it a little gas going around a bend and feeling the car lock-on to the turn... you can't do that in a C63 and even the CLA45 didn't feel quite the same.

I'll do some research on the exhaust-speaker issue. The C450 shares the same exhaust package number as the CLA45, it would surprise me if they artificially enhanced the one on the larger engine (but a review of the exhaust system maintenance procedures should shed some light on this). I can't say that I have noticed any sounds that lead me to believe that this is the case, but I'll keep an open mind on this and would consider a mode if the aftermarket stuff gets good reviews.

Did anyone try the AMG optional steering wheel? It is a mix of leather and another material. It looks thicker than the default wheel that come with the C450. I'm also wondering if the paddles are bigger with this option.
I can't get enough of the performance steering wheel. The "standard" wheel is also an AMG wheel (AMG Sport Steering Wheel) and it is noticeably wider than the sport wheel available in the C400/C300, and it's a great wheel. The AMG Performance Steering Wheel is wider yet, and it has a great feel (you really don't want to let it go). I have played with steering wheels in the whole AMG line, and I liked this one the best. It also has an AMG badge on the bottom (unlike the AMG Sport Steering Wheel ). Here is a picture:

I also have posted a few more pics in this thread: https://mbworld.org/forums/c-class-w...then-some.html

I don't think the paddles are different, but I can't say that I really tried to compare them.

Thx
I want to break this in a little before commenting on performance, but I have to say that I like the responsiveness so far.

I was torn the same, also looking at the black w red stitching and the silver fiber trim. I think I've now decided on cranberry red with the dark carbon fiber, have you considered that option? It looks pretty damn sharp.

Thanks Vipershade,
I looked to your post, your car is superb !!
Here in France we have very little info on C450 as unfortunately for me we have the diesel culture here... I'm one of the resistant !!

wrt the wheel, I was lucky to drive all AMG models or almost during the AMG LIVE days earlier un June. THE AMG GT had this sort of wheel and once you touch it you dont want to leave it anymore...

I will test the C450 AMG end of this week normally, I will come back here with my review.

@Vipershades, how is your feeling with the AMG perf seats? Many testers on youtube gave negative f/back but this is maybe subjective

A+

Exactly! This is the same steering wheel on the AMG GT S, and it's not even available on the AMG GT!

I am 100% convinced that the reviewer in that latest video either spend less than a minute changing the seat adjustments to his preference, or he really had no idea what he was doing. The key to these seats is seating them up to your preference, and I am talking about not only the seat preference (which have the normal seat settings minus the headrest, and lower and mid bolster settings added), but also the steering wheel, mirrors, and HUD. It took me about an hour... but they feel the way that a pair of "baked on" hockey skates feel...like they were meant just for you.

This driving style certainly isn't for everyone, I would suggest a thorough testing of the seats after you have spent the time to adjust them. It sounds like you are one to do your homework, so I think you will ultimately be able to make a very informed decision as to whether these seats fit your driving style.

I'm going to test drive a c450 for the first time this Friday and I'm going to see if I can find this wheel on a 450 or GT-S and see if I want to add it to my build. I can already see myself telling them to add it.

Yeah, definitely try it out... The interior of the W205 C-Class is ahead of pretty much everything in it's class. When the AMG guys add their seal of approval, it also opens the door for options that aren't available in any other C-Class (besides the 450/63/63S)... I figured if the door is open, why not step through it

here in France the AMG wheel costs 700 EUR !! By experience, this means the part itself may cost 3000 EUR if I compare with my Audi experience, so it may worth it.
I have doubts thourgh on the sensation while driving when the wheel has 2 sorts of different surfaces and different grip... Only a real test will answer it.

I have a quick one: Have anyone seen any picture of the C450 with Blue exterior? I've seen all colours but not the blue (sharp one not the metallic).

We can't get the blue in the US (at least not for the normal $$), but I think we would all love to see it (I know I would)...

Yeah, you are correct, it is a no brainer for us here in Canada, and it is on my build. We are puzzled by the reasonable price we get here in Canada, especially compared to you guys in the US, and our weak dollar, it's really a head scratcher
Even the dealers here seems surprised, but are we complaining? Hell no

Prices are even higher here in Europe my friend !! the C450 comes at 65K EUR base and not sure it has any added option to the one in US or Canada. We only have the AMG interior and exterior pack included.
When I see that fuel is also much cheaper in your countries, I wonder what I'm doing here !!!

Hi All,

New here and getting ready to pull the trigger on a C450 in Canada (Burlington Ontario)

I'm thinking;

Palladium Silver
Cranberry Red Interior
Premium Package
AMG Steering Wheel
19" AMG 5 Split-Spoke Wheels
Carbon Fiber Trim

I'm assuming these rims will look good with the Palladium - looks ok on the website but haven't seen in person.

I'm curious though about the Intelligent Drive system. People don't seem to be ordering it. I'm thinking I'm good with my own driving skills but wondering if anyone has it and loves it?

Carbon fiber worth it? Is the aluminum/grey look on the door panel a turn off? Looks like it might make the door look busy?

Finally, adaptive headlights? Will I miss them? Seems a bit of a luxury for 1200 bucks or so.

Thanks all,

Cheers,

Pete

You'll never regret getting an option. You will probably regret not getting one. I'm a big fan of the Driver Assistance Package. Highway driving is less stressful. It's a significant safety feature.

I haven't seen the split-spoke in person, that might be worth finding a dealer with one in stock to look at. (Not necessarily a Palladium 450, but any color just to check out the wheels).

Yeah, I agree with BenzC400... check out this discussion https://mbworld.org/forums/c-class-w...iving-cut.html (it enlightened me).

I didn't think this option was really worth it (and that's probably saying something, since I got every other option ).

I would have to say that I like the AHA headlights... $1200 is a little higher than the US price, but I thought they were worth the $800 US (and that's even after the US regulations that restrict some of the functionality... not sure if Canada has to deal with that ).

This is interesting to me, I might have to skip it in that case. $1300 US is a bit steep for the minimal amount that is actually changed on the interior with the upgrade. Is this what is driving your perception as well?

Actually, I miss read this one... I was thinking exterior carbon fiber...

With that in mind... interior carbon fiber IMHO, is definitely worth it (sorry for the confusion).

Hey Viper and everyone else who's gotten their C450s:

Any issues come up yet? The only thing weird about my car is that the one-touch turn signal (where you just slightly shift the lever so it flashes 3 blinks) only works for the left blinker and not the right... Is that supposed to be the case?

Nope...

I haven't tried the one-touch thing, yet... I'll give that a try tomorrow.

I had the pleasure of driving this beast yesterday after reading every review I could get my hands on and following this thread forever. The one I drove at the dealership was basically loaded aside from having the basic wheels and paint.

I haven't driven any other performance cars to draw comparison to, but it was an amazing ride. After all the comments about how stiff the ride was even in comfort mode, I was really worried that it was going to provide a jarring ride but that wasn't the case at all. The model I drove had the AMG leather seats (we don't have the option of the performance seats in Canada) and they were great. I also sat in another model with the standard (in Canada) Artico/Dynamica seats and found that while the material was still of high quality, the bolstering wasn't as aggressive and I missed that.

The one thing that really surprised me was the silver fiberglass trim. It looked so good in pictures but I thought it looked terrible in person. This is of course subjective and I mean no offence to those who ordered it and like it. To me, it looks and feels like grey plastic with carbon fibre pattern silkscreened on it. I would highly suggest that those considering ordering it see it in person first. I thought it looked cheap.

Was this the door inlay with the carbon fiber option?
