Yep it's a 3G hotspot using mbrace. But that also means it's slow as hell. Getting it to connect to the internet already takes long enough, and after a few months the free trial ends so you need to pay more for bad internet. Not worth it imo.

I use mbrace for remote start and sending destinations, but remote start bails on me half the time

Yeah the remote start is disappointing. I had a viper alarm 20 years ago that worked great. Sad that a 2016 Mercedes doesn't have that on the standard key.

Saw this first in the comments of the review posted a few pages back, and there is an AMG press release that apparently says it too (another commenter said they read it and "unfortunately it looks to be true", although I didn't see it in the translated version).

Anyone else heard this?

haha yeah, I believe there was a late 90's car with the same name. C43 AMG.

On the bright side, the guy who is currently posing with the AMG badge on the back of his C450...he wouldn't look quite as foolish anymore, as the pics in that link have it too (albeit on the left side, rather than the traditional right rear placement).

I think it's due to Mercedes just named the new SLC with this engine as SLC43 instead of SLC450 (formerly SLK).

So I guess that's why there is a rumour of C450 adopting the same numbering as C43.

I know Mercs resell sucks anyway but it's gonna be tougher to gauge with all these once-and-done model years (C400 and potentially C450) of the same cars.

Now I think C43 has way more history than C450 in name. But we already have C63 as top of range, so have C43 and C63 is diluting the AMG brand even more. I think the AMG section of the forum is already losing there mind about AMG Sport branding, and totally hated on SLC43. This will make it even worse for AMG fanboys.

I could finally connect the car to Internet through my iPhone shared connexion. However the connexion is slow as indicated above.
I defined Gps destinations and favorites for weather through remote online application but could not find them in the car. No idea how to make them appear...I think I will call MB connect me customer support to,understand the stuff.

I think we have different features between Europeans US for remote online. On mine you can lock unlock, see car stats and consumption, error messages etc, localization but you cannot remote start the car. I think mbrace ihasdifferent functions....

Another curiosity : when I asked the dealership about my tires he explained that I don't have runfllats. I'm a bit puzzled as I thought all c450 come with runfllats. My wheels are Dunlop sport maxx 19 inch. Anyone has the same ?

You must be in Europe? In the US, the C Class only comes with MOE RFT tires. I believe in Europe, it is possible for a dealer to order a C Class with non-RFT.

Just registered this forum although I am following it since a couple of months. Thanks to all for your valuable input and pics, it really helped finalize on my config !
Live in Belgium, ordered first week of September and delivery planed first week of March (six long months)
I am a old BMW fan, currently driving a 330i Coupé (E92), love it and was almost sure to order another BMW. My shortlist was exactly the same as Bourne: C450, 340i, Macan S, Jag XE S. Finally choose for C450, definitely the best overall package (superb interior)

@Bourne, can you please keep me informed about your impression on the suspension. This was one of my main concern (it seems to be stiff no matter what mode). Do you feel a real difference when switching from C to S or S+ ?

Also, regarding the tyres, in Belgium I could select the type of tyres when ordering: RFT, Summer, Winter. Default is Summer tyres (non RFT). I was expecting ContiSC 5 but I am quite happy to hear you get your car with Dunlop Sport Maxx !

In short my config includes:
- Palladium Silver
- Black Leather (251)
- Open pore black ash trim (736)
- Multi-spoke wheels titanium (605)
- Command
- Burmeister
- ILS
- Various packs (we like them here, convince to get more for less)
But no:
- Distronic plus (had the feeling it was too much assistance and potentially disruptive, especially the lane assist)
- Pano (never open the roof but I might regret this one ;-))

Hi Vinny and welcome to the c450 passion community.
Nice build you chosen. I also didn't order distronic and no cruise control as I don't like the electronics driving for me...
My first impression was indeed that suspensions are a bit hard. Didn't notice it during the presales test drive because I didn't drive on pavé streets (non uniform surfaces we have a lot here in Paris ).
Now it is stiff but not uncomfortable. Also as I sit very low I feel more the feedback from the road. But apart from a cruising driving with family where I will be in full comfort mode I like feeling the road.
In S and S+ your feel it much more but what I find very smart from MB is the fact of having a suspension mode button at hand so you can go to s+ mode and press the button for comfort suspension. You can also go to individual mode which you setup yourself.

I do think you may regret the pano roof. This was one of the few criteria that made me chose the car. The roof is superb and you have a lot of brightness in the car. Don't forget that the normal roof is black so the interior would be too dark without pano especially in our cloudy countries ...

Happy to see you read my messages and had the same shortlist of cars than me.
Actually if the Macan GTS was 10k less expensive I would have chosen it against our 450 but it is too expensive with the added 6,5k€ of co2 tax!!!!

That's pretty much the exact way I want my futur c450 to look and sound.Maybe I would go for black rims.


The fact that I got owned by some cadillac cts this morning might accelerate the buy of the 450.

I have to say just in the first week or so that i have the car i absolutely love it. I waqs between the 340xi and the C450. Coming from MBs all my life i couldnt switch now, especially going to what i thought was an inferior car.

Cant wait to get some more miles on it so that i can really open it open a bit more.
