How to show distance to next turn? - Navigation

Hello -

When navigating to an address, how can I get the center panel to constantly show the distance to the next turn? Right now, it only shows up about 0.5 mi before the next turn.

I have an HUD, and it constantly shows the distance to the next turn, but I'd like the distance to show up on the center panel.

Thanks for your help.

I am taking delivery of a c400 on Monday. I will not have the HUD....does this mean I do not get distance until the turn at all?

On the Comand Online, which I have, you get a distance and turn count-down at about half a mile from the turn. Up until then you have no idea how far the next turning is, or which way it goes unless you have the map zoomed out far enough to see. It's very poor given the amount of screen estate they have to play with. The software on a basic TomTom is much better.

On old Comand it gave you a voice prompt on distance to next turn & about half a mile from turn went split screen displaying a run down bar to the turn & direction. This has been the MB way forever.

Yes, that's what it does.

I much prefer the TomTom way of continually having a display of the next action and distance remaining to it. Makes planning for things such as the correct lane at a major junction much easier. I can think of several motorway junctions on my way to London that need you to be in the correct lane much earlier than half a mile.

It would be helpful to be able to display a turn list that includes next turn, as well as, the following few turns like many other systems. Having the HUD display the next turn is very helpful, but I miss the turn list from my Lexus. I spent considerable time trying to find a turn list in the Benz navi, but it's not there.

On limited access highways, I use the HUD for next turn information and I turn on the Highway Information display to show upcoming highway exits and rest stops. The screen only has room for the next few exits, but you can scroll forward to see the distance to any upcoming exit along your route including the services available.

This is an epic omission from MB. Such basic functionality that even the basic Garmin has.

I remember my first SatNav from years ago had this (it was dirt cheap and IIRC won in a raffle draw!)

I seems as if it would be easy for MB to add a turn list in a future software update.

Yes. I have a top model Tom Tom stand alone unit as well for other vehicles. Works well!

One thing I like with Garmin units is the picture of upcoming complex intersections & route.

The complaints on this forum crack me up sometimes TBH. The voice instructions tell you ONE MILE before your turn to get ready to turn. The screen shows the turn as far forward as you want based on how much it's zoomed and then a half mile before a small additional graphic comes up. To call it an epic fail is a bit of an overstatement IMO.

+1^ I have found the Comand to work very well in every Benz I've owned. Some of it is what you have got used to.
