Driver's door popped open

Driver's door popped open
Any one ever experienced this? Yesterday I was driving slowly over some metal plates used to cover road construction and my driver's door popped open. I know it was closed completely before because I didn't have any warning sounds. Luckily the transmission didn't go into Park like it normally does when you open the driver's door. Have an appointment with the dealer today.

Not had this. My doors seem very solid and close beautifully. Its one of the most lovely things about the car, such a tight 'thum' sound. No tinny, buzzing, rattling, just a 'thum'. Presumably it opened to the safety point (a second click all cars have in case they're not shut properly) rather than swung open?

Benz door locks make this almost impossible unless the collision sensor is activated. Make the dealer do a very thorough check.

I think this is the 3rd time I've read about this issue. As madmax said, it's definitely been raised once before here by someone, plus I've also come across it on an Australian forum. Very strange - could be something to do with the crash system triggering, as Glyn said.

The fact that there is a software upgrade tells me it's an electronics problem relating to the impact sensor circuit.
