Burmester vs Bang/Olufsen
Has anyone tested the Bang Olufsen systems in the Audis (A3, A4)? Is it better? I am going to choose the car based on sound system.
Thanks for your help.

I have an Audi and love Audi but I would advise you from buying an A4 that would look old by October or even now since it is in it's 7th year of production.

I wrote about something like this a while ago when i first got my c class. I had an audi a5 in 2011, Black Edition with bang & olufsen which was 320watt i think? Anyway I believe that, that system was better than this new 590 watt system. Like i said in that post, i know it sounds crazy but I think its louder and has better quality sound in the a5 than my brand new c class with a brand new burmester system lol.
The BMW sound systems are crap.
I liked the Burmester (didn't love it) but was wondering about the BO in the Audi. I think u can get BO in the E class but I like the size of the c300.......
I did NOT know that the A4 was gonna change, thanks for the heads up.....

It depends whether you want a true Concert experience or a Ghetto Blaster.

On some high end Mercedes models there is a optional extra to add a Burmester High-End surround sound system with 1000 watts featuring Dolby Digital 5.1/DTS
i listen to a lot of the Killers, 80s new wave, etc
i want LOUD CLEAR accurate sound but also a system where i don't have to immediately adjust (lower) the bass when Ariana Grande comes on
i did test drive an E class and i thought the harmon kardon in there sounded better than the burmester in the c300
do you think it's acoustics??
i want a system in which R.E.M., Jack Johnson, Pitbull, Garth Brooks and Kate Bush will all sound equally amazing
does that exist? maybe the mark levinson, but no Lexus for me

I already have tinnitus.

Stipe & the REM crew will never sound great on a really good system that shows up all the recording faults. Much as I love their/his music they were sadly always badly recorded. Sound engineer should have been shot. I keep their music & videos off of my high end system in my home theatre & play them on the back up TV system in our lounge where they become more acceptable.

So OP isn't alone.

Also each car is different, so settings that work best in one car likely won't be the best in another. For example, if you were to take the same settings from a BMW e92 coupe with Logic7 to the e90 sedan (despite being the same model w/ 2 more doors and same system), the music will sound different because of the difference in interior space/dimensions.
