Question What dash cam(s) do you have installed?

I am thinking about installing a dam cam in my car, but I am not sure of what I should get. What dash cams do you have installed? Anybody has a GoPro Hero 4 installed as a dash cam? I'd appreciate it if you post pictures of the dash cam(s) that you have installed

Here is the camera i am using. This is installed in my Infiniti G37 not the MB. I installed it behind the mirror as it can not be seen from the drivers seat. The front windshield is tinted at to help hide the camera from the outside, but still has perfect picture, also helps with glare from the sun here in Miami. It is a Blackvue DR550 i believe. Love the camera has come in handy many times catching the valet drivers messing around. Also allows you to connect via bluetooth to the phone to get a live picture and watch recordings. Hope the pictures help.

I've talked to a few people who used GoPro cams as dashboard cameras and whilst the video quality is unquestionably superb they don't offer the same features you get in a good dashcam package (i.e. impact/G-Sensor, Parking mode, battery management, size)

I'm using a Blackvue DR600GW, but there's other good options out there. I would suggest you consider size as an important attribute in your search. The W205 windscreen has a considerable rake and a very large top centre stack for the top of screen sensor array. You really don't get much room to play with before it impedes on your line of vision. I'd forget about anything that has integrated LCD screen on it (too much of a gimmick and too big).

There's another good thread here with plenty of chat about different models:

what do you mean by the trunk/boot? does it record the back of the car like the trunk and anything out of the window or does it record the front and the inside of the car from the back?

It just means that the power connection for the camera was done via the fuse box in the trunk (like this). It's just an easy spot to connect for permanent power, but there's other options on where to connect inside the car.

What you're thinking of is called a dual channel system (i.e. front and rear camera) .. the Blackvue DR650 for example has two cam modules recording to the one device.

Does the dual channel record the inside from the front or the back?

why record the inside?.. but I suppose you could.

The system is designed for one camera to look out over the hood and the other out over the rear trunk.

Below is a link to amazon You can also look up some videos on youtube. Again I like the camera, after I bought this one they came out with the 2 ch which gives you front and rear, would be nice to have that too.
