Correct - i think it's an additional $450 or so to add.

Incredible they're not standard right?!?!

That's amazing. I'm 90% certain my current 3 series has them.

With a 10 month old kid riding around in the back that is 100% no brainer.

Nothing hurts more than seeing the value (and desirability) of your now "old " (C400) car go up in smoke when the new one (C450) comes out. Its just the way it is. More HP, better shifting trans, better brakes and suspension for about the same $$. Its as close as you'll get to a C63 S without the price tag. I'd be jumping off a bridge if I had just gotten a brand new 300/400 and learned that the 450 was on its way.

The E9XX guys are all butt hurt about the new M3/4 and the IS-F guys are all in a panic about the new (actually great looking F Sport models including the much cheaper RC 350 AWD).

Well, not exactly 100%. There is controversy as to the safety of rear-side airbags when a child in a child seat is sleeping with their head against the window. In other situations they are OK. I have had BMW, Audi and MB salesmen try and dissuade me from adding them to an order. I don't think many if any dealers order them for a car unless it is presold.

Dealer just shared a screenshot of his ordering system and it appears that option 298 is not even listed so looks like something not worth contemplating.

Very frustrating...as it showed up when dialing in the order. MB just really needs to gtfu and post the pricing and details lol....because some options are getting ordered here, but not there....gahhhh

I'm going to end up w/ and e350 out of nowhere

They have f&r curtains. The optional side airbags come out from the sides of the rear seats. They are optional on the Audi A4/S4 too.

I am pretty sure if one is leaning against/near the window, the side airbags deactivate. As least that's the case on my honda's.

I suppose the ones who got decent discounts on theirs wouldn't hurt as much? Me included.

No question that for most of us there won't be deep discounts at launch. I was quoted $1500 over invoice, not a great deal but not bad for a desirable new model.

Another ordering tidbit, apparently there is a zero cost option in the ordering system to choose black seat belts instead of red ones.

X2, if the stealer took a haircut to sell the C400, then you did alright. However, with your discount has to come a general recognition that when the C450 comes out, the value of your C400 will drop proportionally (or more) to the amount of the discount you got. Its just the way it is and always will be when buying a new car.

Don't get too excited about that $1,500 over invoice till you know what the invoice is and the holdback too. There's a LOT more profit in the car than you realize.

I can sure feel it for the ones that purchased or financed. Mine is a lease and I know exactly how it will have cost at the end of the lease which I am ok with.
What worries me is the quality issues the MY2015 has and MB does not seem to be very supportive. Will sure have a good test drive and go over all the things before I sign off the car.
Now would I pay $50 more a month for a C450. Probably. But I am guessing it will be more than $100 assuming they give very little discount.

That is probably true, but I'm told that C450 is less than 5% of all allocations, most dealers will not be discounting them as deeply as they might discount the volume seller C300.

If they're popular and selling, they will make and allocate more. Not as if the C class has any marketing magic attached it. The real money is in the E and S classes anyway. The dealers will clamor for more ( order more) if the demand is there.

Im not sure how that helps me in the near term. If I want one this year I will have to order in the next few weeks.

Early adopters always pay more and also take the risk there will be issues with the vehicle as well. If you gotta be the first on the block, expect to pay for that privilege. It's simple economics: high demand/interest = higher price

Yes. Red stitching and red belts comes with MBTex only. Leather is monotone.

Actually there is a leather option that preserves the red belts and red stitching. Interior package is apparently required for any of the leather interior choices and is about $2900.

Also red belts can be switched for black belts it is a zero cost option.
