what matrix function?. AFAIK there is not engineering mode accessible in w205, I don't know of any shop, but interested in what this does. I have the adaptive LED's as well.

This is the matrix/multi-beam system on the CLS. The C-Class in Europe has most of this capability I believe, but in the US it is software-limited to just auto high beams and adaptive curve lighting. The adaptive beam pattern functionality is deactivated.
This is what I was looking for - the extended functionality I want "unlocked". The hardware and software should all be present as the auto high beams we get need the same gear, it is probably just a factory coding that's set based on the market. That is very commonly done on world market vehicles to reduce build complexity as much as possible.
I don't have experience with Mercedes, but on BMWs an indy shop can enter the service menus and activate/deactivate market-specific features on the car. For example, BMW does not allow remote window roll-up (only down) in North America but they do in Europe so it can be selected back on.
