Mine was updated today from version 5.1 to version 7. Even though the update was ordered last week during my service B appointment, the different SA today told me he didn't think there was an update and it certainly wasn't free. After checking, he found out that there was an update and that 3 years of free updates are included. It's unbelievable that after at least 2 years of offering free updates, many service people are still unaware. How many customers never get updates because of the service advisors lack of knowledge.

The update process didn't go well at first. It locked up at least once during installation and had to be restarted. The total process took about 2.5 hours.

 

Just got my map updated. looks good, on the map everywhere that isn't a metro-city area is now green, and the metro areas at night are now a brownish glitter color. interesting

 

Had my car in yesterday for a Service "B" and map update. Dealer said they were up to Version 9 and had a disk on order for me. :-)

 

Weird...I'm still running the last version, and I just recently noticed I'm seeing a lot more green on the NAV map than I've seen in the past.

 

Any updates on this? I thought I saw an article last night about a September 2016 update for the 2016 C class, but I can't find that article again today. Has anyone got this update?

If you can get more info and photo of the disc and/or version number that would be helpful. My salesperson is currently saying my 5.1 from Dec 15 is the latest but I'm hoping the service guys next week will get me hooked up.

If your car came with 3 free years of updates, you should be good. My SA told me that not all cars came with that, so when people say they have it they have to call Mercedes and argue with them to get the update. I'm sure some dealers just don't want to deal with it.

 

How did you not pay anything?

I didn't order my car; just bought it off the dealer's inventory, then purchased the SD Card after delivery. Any chance the SD Card itself comes with free updates??

 

You need "Mercedes Download Manager" installed on your PC and you can do it yourself.

 

I have managed to upgrade to the latest map for my country, however I kept getting the error cannot calculate route when I enter an address although I can view the address under the map. However, if I select the existing pre POI, it works fine. Was told need to reset the set, but am not sure how to do. Appreciate help to resolve the issue.

Just upgraded my Garmin SD card from Map: 2014 SW 25.18 to Map 2016 SW 28.18 build 16/03.00 for those of you with Audio 20/Garmin.

 

Had my car in for service A today and they have updated it to version 8.0.

Unrelated but also updated the gearbox which has fixed the jerk from 1st to 2nd gear.

 

Having had my 2nd annual 'B' Service done early Sept 16, I asked if my Garmin Pilot map update had been done and was told 'no' as it wasn't part of the normal service routine, unless specified. So I had to make another appointment allocating whole day's slot at the Garage on the basis it apparently takes a very long time...? This was duly arranged and did indeed take all day. Afterwards I did notice some local mapping differences, but it still showed road changes that were out of date in Sept 16. For example it indicated 'road closed' on a new Fly-section over that had opened in Dec 2015 So I assume Mercedes Garmin updates are based on relatively 'old mapping data' before being distributed to MB dealer network rather infrequently. I had assumed all I needed to do was take in my Garmin SD card as supplied by MB, but they wanted the car all day, as 'apparently' the Car's Data system needed to be plugged in for the Update. Very different from my previous experience with my old TomTom and regular updates obtained from GPSWorld, whose updates accurately reflected monthly changes to UK road network. However, having followed Menu advice re obtaining Version update info from above comments, I am regretfully not able say what version I have currently installed as my Menu is set out quite differently All I can see under my Nav System Information 'My Maps' - "2014(V.2.31) Europe' and on another page 'Software Versions' - GPS: 0.00, Text :2.00 (British/English) Audio: 2.30 (British/English) and TadID: "production/daimler-star1/6.06-2643.....etc"

 

Does anyone got map update for Garmin in US?

 

I have a 2016 C300 with Command and 3 years of map updates. I had an appointment with my dealer last week for the first A service and to update maps. (They are 5.1 now). Upon pickup the SA said maps had been updated, but unfortunately for him, I know how to check the version and they remain at 5.1.

When I questioned him, I received a series of excuses from "the version stays the same but new streets appear" to "5.1 is the latest." I showed him this thread and he called around to several other central Florida dealers asking if they knew about v7 maps. He claims no one has them.

He said if I can find him a dealer who has done the v7 map upgrade, he will reach out to learn how they can receive them. So, if any of you in the USA that have received the v7 update, please let me know what dealer did the upgrade - so I can pass the info to my SA.

I updated my Comand Maps to 5.1 (USA) in January, 2016. Does anyone know if there is a newer version now? I can't find the information anywhere. This is what the web site says, but it is BS: "Map update timing will vary according to when the vehicle is purchased and when the map data is loaded. MBUSA will reach out to Multi-Year Update Program customers when a map update is available for their vehicle."

Thank you - I missed that. I don't know why this information is so secret. I wish I could find an official source online so I could show my dealer should he try to deny what the latest update is.

 

I've run into the same issues when trying to get a map update. Next time I'm in for service I'm going to check the version loaded on the floor display cars.

 

I believe it's possible that new cars could have a newer version than is available as an update.

 

I just updated my Garmin Map Pilot SD card via Mercedes Download Manager yesterday.

- The latest software version is still 28.18 build 16/03.00 which my SD card came with. However, I downloaded and installed it anyway.
- My card had the V5.0 map. V6.0 map is now available for download.
- The process took about 5 hours to complete because of the file size (some 13GB).

Interestingly, when I inserted the SD card back into my 2017 C300 after the update, the system asked if the vehicle was the intended vehicle to use the SD card -- the same "marrying" process as the initial activation. Therefore, essentially, by reinstalling the software, the SD card was made "brand new" again. This can be helpful if you want to use the card in another compatible vehicle.

I was told recently by my dealership after I had the car in for some warranty work, and a website that offers Mercedes Benz NAV updates that my 2016 C450 already has the most current NAV map version according to my VIN number...which is 6.0.
