Mine seems great.
The regular variant of the 7 speed in the C300s gets criticized for slow sluggish shifts. The reprogrammed AMG variant in the c450 has not been receiving any of that same criticism.

This makes sense. We knew an early MY2017 refresh of the C coupe was coming. So this will be the first of the 43s to hit the market. I suspect the 9g tranny will probably be standard for all the new c coupes and not just the C43.

"It not only enriches the wide line-up of the C-Class family, but also starts the introduction of a whole series of new ‘43’ models this year", says Mercedes AMG GmbH chairman Tobias Moers. "

Uh, do you understand the term?

Let's try another one: anything other than personal knowledge on your part is rank....

A few Posters on here have complained about the transmission in the c450. Three in this thread https://mbworld.org/forums/c-class-w...plus-mode.html and another couple/few in others. Most complaints about sport and sport+, so likely a misunderstanding of what it is supposed to do, but either way some don't like it. I have no complaints from the 2 I drove and would be surprised if I preferred a 9 speed.

Yes people on this forum have complained about the 450 tranny.

However:
1) None of the complaints about the c450 were similar to the c300 complaints. The c300 complaints center around slow sluggish shifts and gear searching. These complaints are fairly widespread.
2) The c450 complaints appear to all be from people who don't seem to understand how the sport+ mode works or how any gear-hold function works.

Yes, the new C43 coupe gets the new 9sp tranny.. personally, I prefer the current solid AMG spec'd 7sp in this C450 sedan. While a little bit of a longer gear on the high end would be nice for highway mileage, I don't actually want any LOWER ratios on the short end. The car makes too many upshifts as it is in S and S+.. double de-clutching might be interesting, but I'm not going to be banging on it enough to make any use of that at all.

For a car I'm going to be keeping A WHILE I'd rather have the know 7sp for now.

I disagree, I think it is only human for us to try and convince ourselves that the upgraded version of a car is not superior to the one we've got. The 7sp is not as good or smooth as the ZF 8sp in cars like the 3 series, and the new 9sp is said to fix that and is reported to be extremely smooth. The additional 1 or 2 highway mile is insignificant for me, but I fail to see how someone can honestly say they PREFER the now old 7sp, even without experiencing the 9sp

Agreed. The new 9sp will definitely be better than the 7sp that we have. Anyone that says otherwise is being delusional.

Check out the reviews of the GLE coupe and GLC, reviewers love the 9sp.

I can't directly compare the 7g to the 9g. I just know that i test drove a 9 speed TLX back to back with the 7 speed C450 and found 9 speeds too many for manual shifting, as it was too many clicks to find the right gear.

The 9G may be far superior to the 7G in smoothness and other items, and the ratios may be better placed than those on the TLX in my test drive. And for those who drive in Auto, probably the more the merrier. But in my (limited) experience in manual mode, 9 is too much. I wouldn't not buy the car because of the 7 or the 9 though.

yeah, I'm far too self actualized for that to be of any risk.

well many tests showed that the c450 was actually faster than the 4.9/4.8 reported in the specs, more like 4.5s..that said, maybe this one is even FASTER than the 4.6 quoted in its specs.

Don't forget, this is the coupe. We have no idea how much it weighs, so can't pinpoint reasons for the improved 0-60. I would think the transmission will have something to do with it. Wild guess weight has more to do with it.

Oh, and by the way, still no idea if the 9G makes it to the sedan either way.
