AMG-Sport is dead. C450 will now be AMG C43
"It not only enriches the wide line-up of the C-Class family, but also starts the introduction of a whole series of new ‘43’ models this year", says Mercedes AMG GmbH chairman Tobias Moers. "
Let's try another one: anything other than personal knowledge on your part is rank....

The Best of Mercedes & AMG
However:
1) None of the complaints about the c450 were similar to the c300 complaints. The c300 complaints center around slow sluggish shifts and gear searching. These complaints are fairly widespread.
2) The c450 complaints appear to all be from people who don't seem to understand how the sport+ mode works or how any gear-hold function works.

For a car I'm going to be keeping A WHILE I'd rather have the know 7sp for now.

Check out the reviews of the GLE coupe and GLC, reviewers love the 9sp.
The 9G may be far superior to the 7G in smoothness and other items, and the ratios may be better placed than those on the TLX in my test drive. And for those who drive in Auto, probably the more the merrier. But in my (limited) experience in manual mode, 9 is too much. I wouldn't not buy the car because of the 7 or the 9 though.

yeah, I'm far too self actualized for that to be of any risk.
Take a gander...

"The C43 coupe comes with a 3.0-liter, V-6 biturbo engine that produces 362 hp, just as the C450 does. Combined with the new nine-speed transmission, the C43 can reach 60 mph in 4.6 seconds, faster than the C450’s 4.8 seconds."

Oh, and by the way, still no idea if the 9G makes it to the sedan either way.
