AMG-Sport is dead. C450 will now be AMG C43

So...C43 Coupe it is, with a top notch deal at that.
GOOD WORK!! (Oh, a very nice looking coupe, too!) Bottom line, we have rules. And per House Rule #232214: The less you spend on what we need - the C43 itself - the more we have for what we want - the aftermarket ECU reflash for more power.

Hell, with the extra ECU-derived oomph, might have rebadge you a C53 or better still - C55.

Now, not sure what tune you are planning for. But using my plan to do the RennTECH (up to 402 hp/454 lb. ft. for about $2300) I'm guessing your numbers will sit nicely between the base C63 (roughly 480/470). Then, with the 69/31 4matic and 9-speed (among the other C450 enhancements & upgrades), you and others will be in a small league of your own.

So, ditto 'you done good'.

That sounds dope af. I'm absolutely serious too! An off white purplish interior with silver carbon fiber with a metallic violet blue exterior sounds sharp. Sign me up.

My dealer called to confirm everything and then told me he had just now realized I wanted the Coupe...this caused a few snags:

1) It isn't in the system for him to place an order yet, and they have no allocation for it (just for a Sedan currently) -- he is going to look into when ordering will open
2) He isn't sure the 10% off + Fleet will apply to the Coupe since it's the first model year, he has to go back to his Sales Manager to check. They were under the impression I wanted another Sedan when they green lit the 10% off transfer.

F*ck me...it's always something.

He got back to me:

1) They will honor the deal
2) It won't be available for order in the system until August
3) They are being built in Europe, so it's a 30 day lead time on delivery...so October is pretty much best case scenario to get one.

Now I have to decide if I just want to say **** it and go with a Sedan instead or not. ****.

Lease the sedan for a couple of years, replace it with the coupe once it's beyond its first model year and the kinks are out. The first year guys are always kicking themselves when MB ups the ante in the second year for the same money.

AMG leases are terrible from what I've been told. If I stick with a Sedan I'm going to lease I might as well just take my C450...

They're no worse than any other lease. They pad the residual a bit, which helps. Audi leases actually do suck since they don't pad. The AMG cars do have a lower resale value relative to new so I think they shave 3 points off the residual on those, but give a little back on the MF.

How terrible? If they say it's a simple rebadge of C450. It should be close even it's amg now. Lease may be worse than C450 but not a lot worse.

Please don't scare me, because I am trying to lease a C43.

Curious to know from someone with more info as well, I am just certain I've read many times here (and was told directly in this thread a few pages ago, I believe) that AMG's have terrible lease numbers and you basically need to finance it. I'm fine with financing a C43 myself, I just didn't want to be stuck with a C450 that I owned...if I even took one, it was going to be a quick lease and then dump.

Residuals on an AMG are a tad lower (57% vs 60% on a C300 for 36/15k last I checked) but MF is better (.00129 vs .00152) so we're not talking any huge penalty for leasing an AMG car.

They take a bigger hit on depreciation, probably because buyers on the secondary market presume they've been driven harder.

Ok thanks. So that's not a huge difference. Something that a C450 buyer/lessor would accept should be fine...

Odd that they cannot place an order for you yet. Many people have started ordering the c63 coupe already, so I don't see why it would be different for the c43. I think a few have ordered a c43 as well.

And yeah, delivery is always going to be a lengthy, especially on a new car and custom build.

I am going into my dealer next week, and will let you know what he says. As far as Ive been told, they have been telling me for the past few months that once the c300 coupes were out, AMG orders could be placed within a month of that release (May).

Haha lets hope that the one year changes are done after the c43, and nothing will be changed until the refresh in 18/19.

For lack of a better phrase, all of these changes in the past 3 years suck for ALL owners/potential buyers.

C63s have an earlier planned delivery than the C43s...always have. C43 sedans are open for order with late August delivery, Coupes are still TBD...but he said there's an outside chance ordering opens before August, it just hasn't opened yet and he's being told it will be August.

If you guys hear of someone ordering a C43 Coupe, please let me know!

Oooh yeah I think I read people ordering the c43 but they were probably referring to the sedan. And now that I think about it I do remember the c63 being summer and the c43 being fall.

I'll let ya know whatever I find out when I head to the dealer.

Anyone else find it odd that my dealer was saying the C43 Coupe will be delivering from Europe? This is the second time he's said this to me; the first time was probably 3 months ago or so. I hadn't heard this at all prior to then or since, but no one here has called it out from tbe post I made yesterday as being odd, so I'm just wondering if I missed this news somewhere previously?

Really? Wow, I'm surprised. Wonder if that means there will be some type of abnormally large markup on the Coupe then, or if the Destination Charge will change from the typical $925.

If there is a premium to be paid to have the car built in Germany I'd gladly pay it. Then you can do that special factory delivery deal where you fly to the factory and take possession right there, and get a special permit that lets you drive it around for a few days.

They sort of had that in Alabama, but you ride in on a Greyhound bus and meet up with the car in a Steak & Shake parking lot, then you get a special coupon for $2 off a Steakburger and Shake combo. So pretty much the same set up.

Yeah after reading more about it, I found some info on the mbusi website stating that it only produces the sedan, so this would seem to point to the coupe being made in germany.

I cant find the article I read online, but it did mention the coupe being made in germany, and it was a one of the auto magazines quoting it. Sorry I cant source it.

That's cool with me, it sucks that it will take longer for the delivery...but it in the long run, it's pretty cool that the car will actually be built in Germany.

I've estimated that MSRP for the C43 Coupe will start at ~$55K, so as long as it actualized around there, I'll be a happy camper

Im glad you decided to wait for the C43. Smart move. I think jumping on the C450 so close to the arrival of the C43 is just an irrational "instant gratification" sort of decision.

Haha it absolutely was, just took me a while to overcome the "I've waited long enough" feeling.
