I'm glad that MBCanada has also reconfirmed this. Thanks for posting that convo!

You have to be a little suspicious of what MB "confirms." MBUSA confirmed to me in writing that Apple CarPlay would be introduced in the 2015 C Class in January 2015.

i like the change. However, going from what that facebook posts says in theory they would have to change the CLA/GLA 45 to "63" because it has an amg-engine. I'm sure they will leave those alone though

It would be odd if they just stuck a new badge on the back. What about the other badges if we're just thing about car identity? The amg sport badges on the side fender is specific to the c450 and gle450. SLC43 has "biturbo" on the sides. Not to mention c63 has amg illuminated door sills and it's covered in amg badges on the inside. AMG gt has a diamond grille as well but it has an amg badge at the front. Where would the rebadging stop?

It's just marketing. The rebadging will stop when the MB Marketing Department decides it's time to stop. That's it from my perspective. Most likely that time will occur when they have so diluted the value associated with AMG, that it no longer signifies a step up from the standard MB vehicles.
By the way all the luxury brands are doing the exact same thing to varying degrees. To the average consumer walking into a showroom, who isn't a car enthusiast, the rebadging just provides the sales rep an opportunity to justify a higher sales / lease price.
If the e-mail above is genuine, then it pretty much spells out that nothing changes on the vehicle but the rear badge. No mechanical or electronic upgrades over what the renamed vehicles already have. However, I'm sure there will be a price increase announced by MB in the near future for all effected vehicles, if one hasn't been specified already. After all, that's the whole point of the rebadging exercise.

effected or affected?
I can assure you my C450 is far ahead of the most powerful C300, and well worth the dough. I went looking for a c400 and came home with a c450. I can afford but didn't want a full blown amg. During the drive I didn't notice anything "amg," until my WIFE pointed it out.

Besides the perks, I wonder if this will impact extended warranty prices as well as just general auto insurance? There is a meaningful difference in the ELW between the C300/450 and the C63. My impression when considering the C63 was that my auto insurance was also going to go up meaningfully. My salesguy said when he got his c450 his went up several hundred dollars. Mine went up by $10 going from the C300 to C450. All I know is I can never go back to smaller engine cars after the C450.

I had a c300 sport with the six and loved it. I drove the 2015 c300 and hated that little engine. The 450 put me back in a small, SMOOTH six, with good power and torque. Isn't it amazing what you can do by throwing money at an engine?

Interesting :
So, for continuity between the "43's" (C43, GLE43, SLC43), shouldn't the badging be
///AMG C43
on the back
Bi-Turbo
on the fenders
Does the SLC have "Mercedes-Benz" kickplates or "AMG" kickplates?

Just answered my own question : it's listed as a feature on the AMG website. So yes, the SLC 43 has AMG illuminated kickplates, so most likely the C43 will as well.
My C450 arrives next month - I will make sure that they change everything over at no cost to me - badges and kickplates. To me, it's not about passing it off as something it's not - because it's the same vehicle. I just want to avoid confusion of having a one-year model that nobody will know about in 2 years time. Simpler to rename to C43 and blend in...

Our car is due in May. Any bets on what badges she'll be wearing when she finally shows up?

I'd say definitely C450 if it's being built in April... I think it will change with the model year, but that is pure speculation...

Do you have superior knowledge of all things?
What you appear to regard as substantive, I regard as mere form or just complaining.
You, like the rest of us, are free io believe whatever you wish, and if you get your deal, that's great. My experience suggests it is pollyannish, at best.
