Anyone successfully installed aftermarket carplay/android auto solution? I had problem with sound and AUX-USB dongle? It wasn't recognized by my Audio 20 in Mercedes GLC.

i am USA based and retrofit OEM apple carplay. uses oem mics and integrates flawlessly with car. no issues like with aftermarket systems. the cost is high though 1k+ with hardware being a majority of cost. It can be done within 2 weeks. pm me if interested.

I have given up on retrofitting my W205. With the new update enabling Waze and Google Maps, CarPlay is much more enticing. $1k aftermarket installations are not worth it for me, especially if the car starts with the ancient interface shown in one of the links above, which showed "iPhone" as "IPhone". I'll just wait a couple more years until I get a new car.

Edit: Seems like the CarPlay video on the W205 from 4 years ago was deleted. Thankfully I had downloaded it a long time ago as it was bound to be removed.

Sorry, I'm a little lost. You're saying you don't want to/have given up retrofitting your W205 but you DO want CarPlay?

That's great! I've been thinking about doing the same but was a little worried about the microphone performance as I talk a lot in the car. I understand they give you a separate microphone that you have to install somewhere. I also didn't know how to activate the aux input in the comand software. Did you find a way to do this?

Some of the options out there give you a separate mic but this particular one uses the original mic, which was also important for me.

If you have the 8.4” screen (comand online) then you’ll need the aux option enabled. If you have the 7.2” screen (audio 20), then you don’t need the aux enabled and they’ll give you a dongle to plug in. I have audio 20 so I didn’t need to worry about the menu being enabled. They have an ODB plug to enable that menu if you needed it but charge for it.

I will of course confirm all this once I get it and install it.

I do want CarPlay but I have given up trying to find a solution either officially through Daimler or third-party retrofit. I'll just stick to what I have i.e. selecting music and following Google Maps on iPhone.

I’m still trying to get mine working. I bought a module from sardincar and their tech support has actually been very good. I was on a video call for an hour with them. I’m kind of a test dummy I think for some stuff their trying but if I can get it working I’ll be happy.

Did you try to change the jumper settings? They differ from the 8,4" and the 7,2 screen". My first unit didn't work at all where the screen stayed of, but the the second one did work. But I'm having some issues with screen flicker, meaning that it goes completely black, then comes on again. This goes on a couple of times before it starts acting normal again. This always happens a couple of minutes after take off and never after it's been on for a while.

Unfortunately the sales rep at Sardincar has stopped answering my mails so I guess I will have to live with it...

oh yeah. Changed all the jumpers to all sorts of combinations. No dice. Do you have the 7.2” screen?

thats the same one I have. That sucks, I was hoping yours would be a different version so I could have them send me an older version. That makes me think it’s something on my end.
