True. If you strip out all of the expensive First Class seats on a plane and replace them and every other seat with a slightly better than average Coach version, you didn't just make the whole plane First Class. You only made the distinction meaningless.

so if MB badges and brands a car an AMG in every way, then you come in and say it's NOT an AMG, it must not be an AMG 
just because YOUR idea of an AMG is (currently) a twin-turbo V8, doesn't mean when MB rolls out a car that is wholly branded AMG that it's "not real"
by your definition, then, S550, SL550, CLS550, etc...are ALL AMG! everybody should go throw a badge on there and call it a day.
the AMG C43 not only has the powertrain, but the chassis tuning that AMG puts on other AMG models.
the only thing it doesnt have is a "hand built" engine, which they would never do on a car that's aimed for a more mass market.
this is the way MB is going, sorry if your opinions dont line up with reality

Well not enjoy complimentary soft drinks for one thing! Free beverages are for REAL AMG owners only. There's a soda machine for the posers. Also only REAL AMG owners can use the remote control to change channels on the TV, and the first two urinals nearest the rest room door are reserved for them. Hope you posers can hold it for another six feet!

When I was in high school, AMG was just starting to build full blown production models. That's when every poser with an older body S class would slap an AMG badge and a set of chrommies on their car. My dad was an early adopter of the factory AMG options, and in '96 he got an SL500 with the AMG sport package. I remember how much different it looked compared to the standard car. In hindsight it was only 18" monoblock wheels and a better looking, all glass winter roof. A couple years later he got an SL55 (r320)and it blew my mind. This was the kompressor supercharged motor, that sounded like a muscle car. He would do standing burnouts and it seemed like the earth was imploding.
I'm trying not to get too nastolgic here, but I am now driving my first Mercedes, a c450. Did I chose it because it said AMG on the fenders? Well, kinda... but the other cars I looked at all had hi-po badges too(Golf R, S3, and even an STi). There's nothing wrong with being a badge *****, but if it's all show and no go, chances are you are going to get herbed at some point. Nobody looks at a Fiero and says, " you can make it look like a Ferrari"!
I'm going the Euro look, and will be debadging my car. With that said, I ordered the license plate C450-AMG.

One time, I left the sanctity of the AMG lounge for a moment and one of the commoners brushed me as he went by. I was livid of course and filed a complaint with MB corporate, who paid for my dry cleaning.
