The age old debate...
These types of threads come back on the forum every so often and always tends to incense people.
Everyone, you can argue nicely. But please don't resort to name-calling or personal insults.
This is your first and last warning. I will issue bans/violations for the next offenses.

I think maybe I phrased my original response poorly and that inadvertently framed the discussion. As a non AMG owner (but long time fan) I can't say affirmatively that the badge is "disrespectful" to AMG owners per se.
My opinion is that, in the instant case, the extraneous badge spoils an otherwise good execution. Like when you see a beautiful girl, and then she lights up a cigarette. That's all.
The OP of course has a right to his opinion about his car. When it's presented to a discussion forum however there's going to end up being a discussion, and some opposing views.

analogies are sound, in that they are all describing how there are posers everywhere in any respect
why cant we all just agree that OP is posing as close to an AMG as he can afford? no one is arguing that, we are just going to the extremes of defining what each of our own definitions of "poser" are. i meant that's just silly, guys and gals.
we've all done some posing, now and again. get called out and live on to pose another day

Then call Mercedes the poser for forging AMG logos into their wheels, Embroidering AMG logos on all the floor mats and calling their sport packing "AMG STYLING PACKAGE".
It's ALL over the car already... it's humorous that by adding the logo to the boot, makes it taboo. haha

Okay. I guess it's "art" in the same sense that printing $1000 bills on a laserjet is a form of art. I suppose if you never plan on spending it but like people to see a fat roll of them in your pocket, what's the harm.
BTW, those aren't 19" AMG GTS wheels. They're 19" C63 wheels on the car in the picture, and if they're OEM, their offsets are not 45mm/35mm. Is it possible that, rather than 19" AMG GTS wheels, or C63 wheels, instead you just have a set of AMG style replica wheels? Those tend to run in non-OEM offsets like 35mm or 45mm to avoid infringement issues. I mean "art" issues.

Judgement would be to be scornful of a kid whose parents bought him a new Mercedes. (I'm not saying that's the case at all, just my gut).
I'm making the observation, that's all. If it's accurate, there's no negative connotation, at least not from me. I bought both my sons brand new, very nice cars for graduating high school and I've promised my daughter a CPO SLK if she graduates with a full Bright Futures scholarship. But if she sticks an AMG badge on it, she will unfortunately, have to be disowned.

Yeah....and everyone pimpin C43 badging take your happy asses over to the recently renamed C43, C63, C63S thread.
That's right, the AMG-lites / AMG Junior Varsity Teamers / AMG-Wannabe cars have had the Welcome mat laid out for them over there. Now you can hang out with the big dogs.
We, the very content with "we-are-yet-we-are-not-real-AMGs" C450ers will stay over here with the lowly, sub-brand, regular Mercs. Breaks my heart. Pass the tissue, 'cause we're not buying the new MB-AMG branding campaign.
Like it or not, no handcrafted powertrain = you can never be a legit AMG.

I have seen a lot of dealer slap on a AMG badge on non-AMG vehicles and the owners dont even realize. But to debadge the C300 and put AMG badge on there is totally different. I dont hate it and could care less, and I think so does everyone else. When I approach a C250, S550, E350 with a AMG badge at a traffic light, I always wonder if the owner knows what the badge is all about. That person is either ignorant or a poser. All the suggestions here asking you to get rid of the badge are probably because, no one wants you to be THAT GUY. The real enthusiast is going to know and in 10/10 cases is going to *shake his head*. In short, that badge you have on there, is no way disrespectful towards the real AMG's, but you should probably give your own respect a bit of thought.
Otherwise, its a beautiful vehicle.

It really is a beautiful vehicle. Looking at the OP's other cars, not a hint of anything that could be considered "poser" in the mods. I think this is just his first Benz, and arriving late to the party without knowing the AMG history he figured "why not". I don't blame the guy for getting bamboozled by MB's new, looser approach. The car has little AMG logos all over the place...what's one more on the back?
It's not offensive as much as just a distraction from an otherwise nice looking car.

lol so being a pretender and misleading people to thinking you have something more expensive than you really have is not immature, but calling someone out on their misrepresentation is immature ... your logic is amazing

A few questions for you. Who is he misleading? Pretty sure every member on this forum would know it's not an AMG. Also, you mentioned lying. Can you show me where OP lied? I don't see a lie anywhere. Also, he pretty CLEARLY states he is adding on the badge for aesthetic reasons. Maybe your logic needs a little improvement as well? Regarding the immature comments: "The AMG badge on the trunk is tacky but otherwise the car looks good" see how I called out badge without being a giant man-child?
and you dont have to specifically lie verbally to be a liar, it can be implicit (many court cases to back this up).... kinda like if i put a harvard degree on my office wall even though i didnt go to harvard .... hey i'm not lying because i didnt say i went to harvard right? i just allowed others to come to the conclusion that i went there by displaying their logo on my wall.... kinda like displaying amg's logo on your trunk
however, if you re-read my original statement that you quoted... no where did i say anyone lied.... can you please so me where i said the op lied? pot meet kettle lol

Carry on folks.
Carry on folks.
He said he expected some heat for the badge, and he got some, as well as a good deal of support and praise.
The consensus, irrespective of the badge issue, is that he did a great job on the car. Hopefully that's his takeaway. Where did he go anyway?

Wannabe, simple as that. It's degrading to drive a false represented car. It's a very nice, nicer than mine but he won't get respect because its fake.

This thread is funny. Personally, I think the fake badge is tacky. Would I do it? No.
But really, who cares what the guy puts on his car if it makes him happy, it's not devaluing anything. It's not hurting anyone. So some people will see the badge, know immediately that it's not an AMG, and snicker or whatever. Fine. Most people will look at it and just think that it's a great looking car - OP has modded it tastefully, I like it. It's not like everywhere he rolls, all the available women in the area will flock to it because it has an AMG badge, depriving the rest of you guys. He's not impacting the valuations, or the enjoyment of, your cars. Comeon, let's have some perspective. It's just not important.
Just leave the guy alone, really. It doesn't matter. Enjoy your ride OP.
