Would You Buy Again?

Granted, it's the nature of a car forum, but it seems like there are still more than a few threads complaining about the W205. In the big picture, do you like the car enough to buy again? Or if you are someone experiencing drawback, are they enough that you would look to a different model (or brand) if you were to do it over?

I'd buy the car again, it's not perfect but it's good. I wouldn't pay out again tho which is different and more an action resulting from the need to save for my retirement!

I would't buy the C300 again. After having it a month I really don't see the appeal and how German engineering is so much better, I traded in a fully loaded 13 Nissan Maxima and frankly gave up a few things the 13 had just to stay in my price range and other than DISTRONIC PLUS, I feel the Maxima was the better overall car taking price into consideration (it was 11grand cheaper and more bells and whistles). I went with MB because they had the best adaptive cruise control and granted I really enjoy it on the highways, but everything else is just meh!
The turbo is small and lags horribly, going into sport mode eats gas and really might has well have a V-6 at that point and get 290-300hp which this heavy car needs. I can also see the maintenance costs are going to be BS and really am just counting down to the 3 year mark and praying the value holds, so I can get far away from German engineering because IMO price for what you get does not equate.

I would, and I did! I went from a 2015 C300 Sport 4Matic...to a 2016 C450. Having an awesome dealership I trust next town over from me helps as well.

Are Mercedes Benz cars perfect, of course not, but IMO the W205 is head n' shoulders above anything else in it's class.

Can't really go from a fully loaded Car A to a modestly equipped Car B and hope the brand panache alone will somehow compensate for the lack of equipment.

If you can't afford an apple to apple upgrade new its better to go used and loaded up,

I've driven the prior gen Maxima and the CVT was a deal breaker. The new ones look like a robot raped a toaster to me. Not really sure about turbo lag on the Benz. I get none in Comfort or Sport. But yeah, holding any engine in higher revs affects fuel economy. Physics.

I'd buy it again, but next time the vert! Or a 63.

I don't think I would be happy if I went from a MB to a Maxima. Unless of course I lost $$$ income.

I don't think I would have considered this car at all if work didn't have an automobile reimbursement plan.

I'd probably be driving a much more affordable, but still sporty car.

Agreed, anyone who thinks MB or any German/British car company is giving you more "bang for your buck" is deluded. The Japanese and Korean brands (and now many American brands) load up on all the options for their price. A Genesis or Cadenza can be loaded to the gills and still be under 50k with all kinds of gadgets.

If you can get past the terrible styling a Lexus or Infiniti would be a easier comparison than Nissan plus they are RWD/AWD. Maximas are FWD (without a differential) so that alone would discount it for me and CVT is a no go as well. However we are the minority and most people don't even know what FWD means or why a CVT is a piece of ****.

Yeah, I really wanted to like the Cadenza and Genesis. No question the content is there, but why is it that taken in isolation each "feature" seems cheaply executed and half baked compared to the Benz? It's like the Korean designers took a laundry list of desireable features from a focus group and figured out the cheapest way to cram them in there. Like everything else, you get what you pay for.

Yeah, it never occurred to me to compare the C to a Maxima, even looking outside the usual suspects in comparos. I've had Maximas as rental cars, and while they were fine in getting me from A to B, the tinny ride quality, FWD platform, and bizarre CVT made me ready to get my car back, regardless of the tech in it.

I liked the car. But probably wouldn't do it again. My fiancé drives it now. I leased a 2016 535 fully loaded.
But for the price I find the c300 very reasonable.

got a decent deal, so if i was able to wait for the C450 i would definitely go back and buy that instead...

that being said, i only went for this vehicle since i was commuting 3-4 hours a day. now that i moved to san diego, my commute is much much better and i would have gotten my Chevy SS 6-sp

With the relentless quality failures, due to both poor deisgn and manufacture, on the W205, I am certainly more inclined to consider other brands and products ...
If their wasn't an enourmous financial hit i would swap out of the car imdeiatley.... never had to do that in 20 years of ownership experiences....

ie Any small amount of brand loyalty I may have had previously (which was small, being an engineer i am more evidence based in my decision making ie test results, personal observation and experience. less so the marketing fluff) has been removed by their product proving the promise as false...

slim chance of our cars being Mercs in the future.. just gotta run these out..

I had a 2015 C300 for about 15 months. It needed the wrist pin repair. The dealer failed in their attempt. I gave them two more attempts. When they couldn't repair the loss of power and severe hesitation, I DUMPED it.

Monetary loss was not an issue. I replaced it with a 2016 Genesis Ultimate AWD and couldn't be happier.

Also, I will never again buy a car with run flat tires.

Why am I even here 4 months after dumping the car? I guess it's like following a stock you owned and then sold or keeping tabs on an old friend.

I purchased this car after many years owning BMW's. I believed I was stepping up in quality. My C300 has been plagued with problems, including the wrist pin rebuild. I hope to get out of this one soon and move to another brand.

i don't think i'd buy a benz again, unless they do another major redesign, like the w205.

i was recently on an accident and the other party's insurance got me a rental.

i got lucky, the manager of the enterprise let me get a fully loaded 2014 cadillac CTS.

granted the CTS has an msrp of $65000 the way it is optioned. but i am MIGHTY impressed with it. had it for 3 days exactly.

extremelly confortable and the infotainment system is a millon times better than my benz. also, the digital cluster is really nice along with some very CONFY ride.
i never thought caddys were fun to drive, but this CTS in sports mode is a beast witrh the 3.6 v6. Absolutely love it.

now, i would not payu $65k for this CTS, but i've been considering an ATS after driving this.
Trust me, after i went from a 2000 cobra svt, i vowed to never drive american cheap plastic again. but this caddy IMPRESSES.

i'll be willing to try diffrent brands after my C class lease is up, maybe a caddy. who knows.....
