FINALLY!!! Performance Air Intake
http://burgertuning.com/mercedes_ben...ce_intake.html
Not sure anyone else has seen this but it is my first time seeing burger tuning have this for sale. Only other air intake I have ever seen for the w205 was from rw carbon and it was $700 and now they don't even sell it anymore, not that I would have ever bought it. This one is at least somewhat affordable too at $173 after shipping. I was waiting on awe-tuning to release there air intake but tired of seeing in development and research stage for the past 8 months. I just bought this from burger, excited to get it installed.

Damnit! There is a lot of different engines for this forum. Put "c300" in the title please. I was all excited and now I'm mega disappointed.
Guess I could have looked at your username

Likely zero performance gain on standard engine as the intake is not currently a constraint.
And until before and after dyno runs on standard engine are presented it is a sub optimal spend for performance gains.
ecu, turbo upgrade and full exhaust likely all required before intake becomes a constraint and even then only at higher rom high flow.. Which is relevant in track or fast road use only.

All you need is common sense.
Think about it, in these days where car manufacturers are counting every drop of fuel saved, do you really think they would design an OEM air intake system that is restricting air flow?
Also the stock intake and air mass sensors are specifically designed for a OEM air filter, I find it hard to believe that K&N in this case, have collaborated with Daimler when developing this amazing 10+hp product?
Until I see independent dyno data I have no problems what so ever to call "performance" air filters BS.

Remove the filter completely and dyno it...
The change is within the error range of a dyno..
Ie no measurable benefit.
reason, on this application the OEM is not a constraint. (This is the important bit.. On this application).
This is not always the case, our GLA45 intake is absolutely a constraint (A45, CLA45).
It shows a measure able benefit with an intake change, filtration in this instance is not the constraint but appeture dia ie a throttle on the flow. again more evident at higher rpm.
so changing to a poorer filter medium when the higher performance medium is not a constraint isn't smart.
spending that money elsewhere will provide greater benefit.

Also remember that many "performance" filters need an additional filtering medium to stop bugs ans small birds from entering the engine, and what do they do?
They add oil! "performance" filter oil
Yeah, that oil will add an extra layer of "performance" to the temp, and pressure sensors located in the intake channel.

I ask because after switching out the stock panel filters on my old 2015 C300, and my current C450, I most definitely felt improved engine response.

Having worked with cars for over 16 years I have seen my fair share of air mass sensors destroyed by filter oil,
fortunately people have grown more competent lately and "performance" filters are rare these days,
but hey could also be an age thing, kids with blinged out Hondas tend to like them as well

Interesting to see the lengths you are willing to go to justify your choices,
that was a very trustworthy and independant source you found there
I have no gain in lying about my experiences - they do.
Your call, do to your car what you want, I am just sharing my thoughts about this BS.

I not doubting what you say here, but where are you getting this information from that the intake/stock air filter on a W205 is not a "constraint"?
