C350e charging flap.locked shut

Hello I am new. I have a c350e that is 5 months old and the charging flap has started playing up. The car was in the dealer last week and they did lots of software updates. When I got home, I got out of the car as normal and went to open the charging flap. It wouldn’t open. I had to use the remote to lock the car, then unlock it and then I could open the charging flap.

its been doing that ever since. I have to get out of the car, lock it and unlock it before I can open the charging flap. I took it back to the dealer today who says this is 100% normal and is a safety feature to stop the flap opening when driving.

I feel like an idiot as I just said okay and drove home. But I never had to do this before last week. Yeah the car locks itself when I drive offf, but it used to unlock everything including the charging flap when I opened the drivers to get out. Now I have to do this ridiculous lock / unlock procedure to open the flap.

So is the dealer right? Or is he telling me porkies? Do you guys have to lock and unlock your cars to open the charging flap?

thanks.

Sorry I can’t help but it sounds like a safety feature. And I know everyone’s busy but pushing 2 buttons is not a ridiculous procedure.

Okay, I guess ridiculous is a bit strong, but this wasn’t required before the car went into the dealer.

The charging flap is just like the petrol flap. How would you feel if you suddenly found that everytime you go to fill up you needed to lock and then unlock the car before you fill up. You don’t need to do this now so it shouldn’t suddenly become necessary after a trip to the dealers.

its even more annoying with the charging flap as we charge every night as opposed to every couple of weeks for the fuel tank.

C350e charging flap

I don't have that problem with my C350e.
If the car is unlocked, all I have to do is push the flap and it opens.
It only locks when I lock the car. (Don't know whether it locks when I drive away)
If I take the charger out of the plug and close the flap. whilst the car is locked, it will lock.
As mentioned, the car automatically unlocks when the driver's door is opened. This, also, unlocks the flap.

Hi Adburn,
I experience the same trouble since yesterday. Has it been solved in your case and if so, how?
Thanks for your response.
Kind regards Ed

I don’t have that issue, but would love to hear how this was resolved….god forbid the software update created this problem.

I think mine does this. Not sure what the pre conditions are but I have had to lock and unlock. I just assumed it’s a feature
