I purchased my 2015 C300 about 6 months ago and it has CPO warranty until 2020. I was going to take my car in for a service A to the dealer and inquired if they would update my navigation (three years navigation included in CPO). They mentioned that their records show that no new update is available. I am showing that I have a 2014 (v3.1) map - can someone provide any insight if a new software or firmware is available for my car, or at least point me in the direction where I can search for this information. Much appreciated!
That's just the software for the Garmin system as far as I know. The premier COMAND system needs a dealer update which takes up a service bay for a few hours so that's why they try and put you off doing it. In the UK, if you listen to the dealer they like you to tie it in with a service but Mercedes say that you are entitled to free updates for three years with no mention of servicing intervals being a requirement.
"Starting with the 2015 model year, drivers who purchase a Mercedes-Benz vehicle with the COMAND navigation system receive three years of FREE map updates. These complimentary map updates are valued at nearly $750."
I believe maps are only free under original warranty.
To see your current map version, switch to NAVIGATION, then:
I had my firmware updated this year and maps last year.
Right, I knew the new car had 3 yrs, just wasn't sure if the CPO continued it.
Dealer said they checked for map updates before delivery, I'll have to check my map version, I don't think it's 2018.

I vote you try the 3 hour self update and report back.
I had my car in for an alignment on Monday and asked about updated maps. They told me there were no updates (mine is a 2015 version.) He also told me that if there were free updates it would only be for new vehicle purchasers, not CPO owners. This is the worst GPS I've used, I'm sure the outdated map is part of the problem but it was bad from day 1. I drive 3 states, 40,000+ miles a year and the map always sends me to places that no longer exist or takes me routes that are always longer in time and miles than other programs like Waze. I actually use Waze as a second opinion all the time. Guess it's time to check eBay for the latest program.
The updates follow the car, not the owner, as I said earlier, contact MB for all the information that you require then print it off and present it to your dealer. If they won't play ball get back to MB and get them involved.
From my experience, the free map version updates are only available during the original warranty period and is not included in the extended CPO warranty period. The latest Map Version is: N America 2018/2019 V12.
A MB that was sold with "3Yr Free Command Map Update" (as avail) - that 3Yrs starts from original date of purchase as shown in the VMI. After 3Yrs from date-in-service - "free" part is gone.
To upgrade maps after 3yrs is gone... the dealer has a CD map version in parts for use by the Service Dept for the shop - that only works when a "PIN#" for your MB is reguested - that PIN# is Dealer Cost $90 - with both disc/PIN# the shop can execute the update for your car... normally that install is billed at 1Hr.
I have had both our GLC and C300 COMAND maps upgraded.
Even if you are outside the 3 year complimentary window, you can still request the dealer update the COMAND maps for you for a fee (I'll try to see if I can find what the cost was - can't remember it off the top of my head)
Its an obscure update though. The tech you are talking to might not be aware of it. Totally worth having done though, because based on the 2015 software you're on, not only is map totally outdated, but they changed the look of the map graphics itself in newer versions.
Thanks for all the replies. As I am out of the 3 year warranty window I missed my free update. I asked the dealer for a quote and he came back at $900. As I have MB navigation and not Garmin I assume that I can only get the update done at a dealer and not online.Any suggestions or guidance on the price point ($900) and update options would be helpful.

That seems really high even for MB standards. Any other dealers in your area you could call for a second quote?

To be honest MB navigation system in my 2015 is crap and i just use google maps on my phone.
I have it sitting in my cup holder facing me and giving voice directions.
Why do I have to always input the full and complete destination address MB??
MB navigation is only useful if I quickly need to know where a street is on my route.
I am having exactly the same problem, same mode car.
Good evening, i am just facing the same problem. I have imported a mercedes c220 2014 amg premium w205 from UK, and it does not support Cyprus maps. Called Garmin and Mercedes dealership and they said there is nothing they can do. Just wondering if you found a solution. Thanks in advance.

I got a map update. But to be honest, the 2015 C300 Mercedes Benz navigation implementation is the worst I've ever used and I just use my Google Maps on my phone.
Why must i enter the entire full destination address??
