Quote: I found this in the comments of that video. I'm surprised I haven't read this on this forum before:

Anyone else try this?
I have done this although a slightly different way, I did not cut the slot all the way through the slide instead about half way down, then cut down a small bolt to the width of the tracks and put a nut on the end, I then unwound the nut to slowly spread the rails apart, this gave me enough room to slide the slider in then remove the bolt to release the tension which then locked the slider in place.

Hi, I have a 2015 W205 with sunroof issue, needing to fix/ replace the guides. Do you have the procedure to removal and replacement of the guides? I've removed roof liner, etc. but can't figure out how the guides are removed. Thanks.

I am facing same issue with w205 , the 2 backend portion of the roof were not sitting down when closed so as a result the roof was not getting fully closed . SO my local workshop mechanic had closed the roof manually 2months back.

1) I went on Amazon and ordered roof repair kit these 'A' Shaped clips along with these other plastic items ( Pic uploaded below) .
Kindly guide me and tell me whether all these plastic parts have to replaced or just replacing those 'A' clips with 4 new ones will do ?

2) And now when the repair kit part has arrived , the same mechanic is not able to open the sliding roof. He told me that the back 2 end portion (movable glass support or sunroof lifter) is not getting lifted . He tried it automatically and manually but the was not able to open it .
Any suggestion on how to raise the 2 back end portion of the sliding roof ? Without raising the 2 end portion and opening the sliding roof I wont be able to repair or fix the roof.

I hope this may help anyone that has had an issue where both rear tilt brackets/arms are stuck and your roof just won’t go flush. I normally keep my 2017 C300 in the garage but needed to leave it outside for a few days. This I know now was huge mistake, the loudest Pop I ever heard while trying to open the roof (I thought someone threw a large stone at the car) however the pano roof went all the way back so I thought nothing of it until I got home and tried to close the roof . The roof moved all the way back to close but with the final cycle of the close it would tilt back up and stay in the vent position. I have searched every forum and watched every YouTube video for this problem with nobody able really to give any specifics. I even went as far as to remove the roof myself to see how the Mechanics worked. I found both front guides were fine as well as the rear brackets its just the stupid rear would not go down. Im not going to a MB Dealer for them to tell me the guides need to be replaced and I need to pay 3K or more or be “SOL” for something so stupid. Anyway this guy was a life saver and it looks like he only posted this YouTube video maybe 2 weeks ago. I payed close attention to the last minute of the video and did exactly what he did put the roof back on and its been working ever since I just need to grease her up now.

Another good resource. Shows how to read the fault codes that may be trigered by a sunroof issue. Those codes seem to be stored in Overhead Controlo Module.

Newbie W205 2016 250d
Quote: I have the same problem with my C230. I called a sunroof specialist instead of mercedes dealer and he was very familiar with this problem (was actually repairing same problem on a C180 Coupe in 2 days time). The upshot was I have my car booked in for repair at $340 (barring anything else broken) and will take 4hrs to do.
I am in Australia but I would suggest trying a sunroof specialist in your area.
Hi mate in Aus also. Any chance repairer was in Sydney if so could you share details please ? W205c250

thanks

Quote: I just got my 2015 back form dealer for both rail replacements. similar to this (https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/...f=23&t=1686031). the left side was stuck in the tilt position, and nothing moved. The dealer was able to replace both rails only, saved te glass, motor, and roller blinds (all were concerns initially). They cut me a deal since I have put less than 1500 miles on the car since I purchased it from them. I paid $2089 for the parts and labor.

Since the repair was made at a dealer, using OEM parts, I now have a 2-year warranty on the sunroof at any dealer in the country.
how has it held up?
im having issues with my sunroof now.

Panoramic roof doesn’t stay closed when attempting one touch close
When trying to close the glass panel with one touch, the mechanism makes a sound as if it’s struggling while closing. The roof closes and then the back of the roof immediately pops back up. In order to fully close the roof, I need to “ease” the roof down manually. No issues while opening the roof. I have tried to reset the roof using Fuse 317 to no avail. Any thoughts?

Does this solve all issues? 2015 c450. Pano stuck closed, only one side tilts up as is this week (both titled up for a while previously).

Hello, I have read the complete page and watched the video but I am still not sure, maybe you could confirm ?

My roof is still working but when it's about 70% closed I have to pull it down from the inside to allow it to closes totally, or it reverse and opens again.

Do you think that it's related to what you are showing here ?
Thank you so much for your help !

Quote: Is this the main mode of failure for these pano roofs? I'm looking at other videos on youtube and it doesn't seem like that's the only problem people are running into. I found this video of the CLA250 but it appears that other pano roofs have the problem where the rear tilt won't close.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HRKS82eN1DY

Another video of the S205
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HrAbRFPj9ZU

I think for the problem where the back won't untilt, the solution may also be simple. Apparently a screw set on the back bracket becomes loosened over time and causes the bracket to tilt out of alignment. You just need to retighten the screw.
