mBrace update?

Hi all! Longtime lurker first time poster. Trying to set up mBrace on our 2016 C300. Long story short, the dealer never told us about it and we never set it up. So we call, and they are telling us this car isn’t supported for mBrace and remote start capabilities but I was under the impression all 2016 MYs and newer were. they said call back in a week when a possible update is available?

I had a ton of issues getting mBrace customer support to set up my account recently. Best solution i got was actually sitting in the car and hitting the embrace button in the overhead console to call Mbrace and have them set it up. Your car should have a received an over the air update to allow for it to be registered, something I had to wait a couple months for prior to my car allowing the registration apparently. I have a 2016 and use the remote start feature a lot so I dont think you have an incompatible model. Its just going to be more about getting the right person on the phone who will help you. It took me at least 6 tries to get it done. Oh, and depending when your car was purchased, you only have this service for 5 years from that purchase date and would have to buy this service afterwards. Mine runs out in 10/2020 and they wouldnt extend it even with my lapse in service. Im pretty unhappy with the customer service at this point

yeah, unfortunately it was purchased in October 2016, so we’re on the back end of using it. The “i” button by the mirror says no service connected and the two reps I talked to on the phone were helpless. This will be a mess haha

I called in to set up my 2016 C300 as well and was told I needed a software update for 2020 before I could use the features. I have yet to go to my dealer to ask about it. I used the i button for the call.

my salesman already set it for me when i went to pick up my 2016 C450.

I'm a second owner of a c400. That means that the Mbrace service is already expired. To use the service I will have to pay a fee or it's not possible to use it never again?

They should move the vehicle details over to your name for free, which allows you to then use the free mobile app functions under an mbrace account that you create. The free app functions are remote start, lock/unlock, and the various gps related features like Valet tracking and vehicle locator.

The other things like mbrace Assistant, SOS service, mobile apps/internet for the on-screen system have a subscription cost associated.

C400's have a different system I was told, and we will never get Apple or Android Play and remote start hardware doesn't exist in our cars cuz they only made them in 2015.

on 2018 and up, you can check your car status on phone like engine off, vehicle locked.

I just went through this. I purchased a CPO 2017 C300 which still had ~21 months left on the initial 5 year period, and it was a real PITA to get this transferred.
At dealer during sale - no mention of mBrace during sale or car overview
After purchase - found MercedesMe in app store, downloaded and learned about mBrace
Call 1 to mBrace, was told service wasn't transferable, tried to sell me on a contract
Went to web site - saw language that it was definitely transferable; setup mbusa account and pin, tried to associate VIN and discovered it was still associated with prior owner and couldn't authenticate
Call 2 to mBrace, CSR said should be able to be done but couldn't do it, needed to go to dealer
Dealer - Said mBrace was acting weird for pre-2018 cars, needed to do research on how and would call be back (it's been a week, no call yet - thanks MB of Plano, not good while you're still sending me how'd we do surveys)
Call 3 to mBrace, CSR said definitely should be done, enter my account # which I didn't have from anyone and my PIN... after verification round gave me the #, pulled over to enter info in app; system came back with # and PIN didn't match records. CSR was surprised but assured me, system would need time to sync and 48 hours later would work
Call 4 to mBrace (60 hours later) - new CSR says they need credit card number, even though no charge for transfer; reluctantly I give a cc number, and an hour later, I can sign in

So, be prepared to call and call until you get someone who knows how to transfer service

Tried to renew my mbrace subscription today and was told that they are upgrading their system to 5g and that mbrace would no longer be available after December 2022 for my model year (2016 GLE350).

they just sent me a letter that i be auto renewal from Feb 2022 - Dec 2022. my trial ended in February.

2016 GLE and 2017 GLE are both facelifted W166 chassis. Above ericokc can't renew mbrace in a 2016 GLE but in another thread member renewed his 2017 GLE mbrace. Guessing the 2016 GLE is 3G and the 2017 GLE is 4G?.
