I’m thinking of buying a higher mileage 2016 C450 AMG. 51k miles. Any known major problems with them?

120,000 miles. It's been very reliable. Only complaint is how quickly it eats through tires and brakes.

do you still have your run flat tires one? My friend who commutes 100 miles total in a day said that when he switched out to none run flats, it helped. His was a c300 coupe though. Thanks for the input, that’s confidence inspiring. I currently have a 2009 e63 AMG, it’s bullet proof at 100k miles. Originally Posted by tommyr

I have a C400 (same engine) with 72k miles. Bought it one year ago with 47k miles and nothing has "broken" on it or been really unexpected so far. There are some common issues the W205 platform has, but nothing abnormal has happened to mine. Good luck!

C400 here (same engine more or less), 51,000 miles, mechanically sound. Only issue was a drip from a rear diff o-ring which was replaced under warranty, and I had the front axles updated (already updated for the C450).
They're good cars man. DIY friendly, no weird tools required. Just did the plugs on mine and noticed they made the O2 sensors for the downpipes accessible from the engine bay which is a nice touch. Plenty of room to work under the hood, like a surprising amount. Parts are not expensive.

Yes, we stuck with run flats. It's been solid. Has an early issue with squeaking brakes, but dealer handled it and no issues since then. Just ordered a C coupe to finally replace the car. Originally Posted by zelius92

Thanks for all the reply guys, pulling the trigger this weekend. I’m excited. Current daily driver is e90 335i, so this will be a nice change.

This will be a very big change for you! Is your e90 x-drive? Going from 2 to 4 doors will be a change and the interior of the W205 is leaps and bounds above the e90. The M276 doesn't respond as well to mods as the N54/N55 but is just as reliable as the N55. I'd also recommend looking at the JB4 for your C450! You should be able to run consistent high 11s/low 12s on map 6 with E30 fuel- stock intakes and downpipes and everything.Originally Posted by zelius92

I have a '16 C450 with the unlimited mileage warranty for another 3 years from the end of this month. I bought it at 38k miles 9 months ago, it has 52k currently, which puts me at about 18.6k miles per year (annualized). Knowing that at times I do 35,000 miles per year or more, and this first year of ownership would be the exception, the unlimited mileage warranty was important to me. So I'm definitely glad to hear your experience. Even with the warranty I don't want to be broken down, or have too many issues, etc (and there was a 0% chance I wouldn't get the warranty with my use of the car). 120,000 miles and being very reliable sounds awesome. Out of curiosity, do you drive hard or are you a lighter driver?Originally Posted by tommyr

Now to the OP, they ironed out a lot of the kinks in 2016 from the 2015 (as somebody who had a 2015 C300 that I leased), and the M276 turbo engine had (in 2016) been made for 2 years, and I think 6 without turbos. The transmission had been around for at least a decade too. I haven't had any mechanical problems with mine yet (knock on wood -- and while I don't abuse the car, I certainly drive it hard at times). But, I have had other issues. My main issue was multiple failed modules by the rear-view mirror that has the cameras for steering assist and lane keep assist, as well as controls the adaptive high beams. This is something I'm definitely keeping an eye on. And an auxiliary battery failure. All replaced in a couple of hours under new car warranty.
It's nothing that would ever stop the car from getting you from point A to point B. Usually in my experience with Mercedes they're relatively mechanically solid/durable, but it's the electronics that cause the issues.
Hope this helps somebody. I'll be following this thread.

They also use this motor in a bunch of cars and they're all reliable. The C400, E450 and I think E400 and one of the S Class coupes does to. It's solid.Originally Posted by cjaredscott

On the aux batteries from what I read (mine went bad too) they switched from an auxiliary battery to just a set of capacitors on a little PCB instead. So if they replaced your aux battery they probably just put in the new system. You can also safely disable this by disconnecting the 2 pin harness on the battery ground terminal.

Yep. ML400, C400, E400/E450, S450, GL450/GLS450, CLS400, tons of cars. And many before those without turbos.Originally Posted by GringoBling

My aux battery was the capacitor system, I believe. It definitely wasn't a big deal and, from what I've read, something that can be DIY.

Are you asserting that 51K miles is “higher mileage?” Not sure 2016 with 51K should be classified as being in the higher mileage category. Originally Posted by zelius92
