Bone stock C400 4Matic 1/4 and 1/8 mile times

Just as something to do and blow off steam after work I took the kids down to the local track yesterday. (Capitol Raceway in Odenton, MD)

Conditions were fantastic, 54 deg, dry, and the track was tight.

Ran my first pass with 2 passengers totaling about 315 lbs, in comfort, no power braking. This was sort of a (worst case scenario). Far left slip

Second pass, with passengers, in sport+, footbraked up to 1900rpm. Middle Slip

Third pass, no passengers, in sport +, footbraked up to 2400 rpm. Far right slip

The plan is to see what a little sauce in a tune-up will get me down to and go from there.

2015 Grey C400 4matic with 44K miles.

Just got my shipping confirmation for the Modal Works Carbon intake.

Plan is to actually install at the track and make same day runs for totally stock and with only the intake.

What tires are you running? 1.9 60ft could definitly come down with some practice or PS4's.
Intake should help, but we are undertuned from the factory so going with JB4 to get factory C43 boost levels or a full stage 1 tune will drop your time more than a second.

Tires are Bridgestone runflats in OEM 18in sizes. Definitely not a drag radial, or a 200 treadwear tire, but I didn't notice even a hint of wheel spin on the launches.

I'm doing the intake first as more of a, "For Science!" Type of thing as opposed to expecting it to yield big gains.

JB4 with all the bells as whistles is next, with high flow cat down pipes close behind.

What map on the JB4 gets you the same boost as a C43? It seems as if a 400 should be able to be tuned to match the 43 fairly easily- then build on top of that like a 43 with a tune. I have a JB4, but I'm thinking it'll take a custom map to make a good tune, but don't want to be tied to anything other than 93 pump gas.

Good start my fellow C400 owner! Looking forward to seeing that Modal intake installed.

I’m running JB4, map 3; no other mods yet. no 1/4 mile times yet.

From the logs ive seen the C400 makes about 9-10psi stock.
The C450 and early C43s make around 12-13 psi stock
And the face lifted C43 with 385hp seem to hold around 15 psi
So about a 3psi jump for each change, which makes sense as there is about a 30hp gain from each.

So for me map 4 was like a stock FL C43 which is fine on 93 all day.
Ive since moved onto map 6, with E25 for daily use.
Disclaimer: results may vary, i dont work for BMS, and you need at least 93 to be playing around with map 4+.
Take some logs and check how its running after the car learns the trims on map changes.

Agreed with Matt. I made one crappy pass with a JB4/intakes and trapped 114mph.

Thanks! I love these cars.
The Modal Works intake and a BMS JB4 with BCM should be here tomorrow and I plan on installing them trackside and collecting data on each mod if time allows.

I understand there's nothing like running your car at a track, but as a decent alternative for documenting changes and mods conveniently is to use a Dragy. I have one and it's great for logging changes on-the-fly.

Disclaimer to all: Please don't be a bonehead and drive like a banshee near homes, people and other cars. Using Google Maps, you may be surprised to find some good, straight roads near you that have no buildings and minimal traffic to sneak in some runs.

I have my secret spot about 5 miles from me that's clear and open.

I had one, it stopped working after about 3 months. Customer service was basically, non-existent. Took almost 6 months to get a replacement.

I just sold it on FB without ever even taking the second one out of the box and moved on.

Well that sucks! Sorry to hear. I've had mine for about 2 years and all good here.

Either way, I'm looking forward to watching your progress!

Thanks! Today should be eventful. Both the intake and JB4 are out for delivery. Hopefully they both arrive with enough time to test them both separately.

Frig man, sorry to see this. Nothing worse than getting a new mod, and fitment / quality isn’t there. Hopefully Modal will work with you to resolve the issues.

Appreciate the thorough video.

Yeah, it really put a damper on my weekend. To add insult to injury, Burger Motorsports sent me the wrong JB4!

If I didn't have bad luck, I'd have no luck at all.

Double Frig. Sorry man.

Well, at least once the JB4 is resolved, it’s a pretty straightforward install. Burger advised no need to hook up the green fuel wire. YouTube is your friend. I was pretty **** on routing the wiring, so probably took me longer than most.

That's interesting they said no need for the green wire.
Do you have the boost control module? Did you hook up the OBD2 port connector?

You have to use the OBD connector or you won't get anything other than Map 1.
I've been running the JB4 on map 3 with 93 octane and it's perky... but I just ordered a "real" tune to see if the claims are true that Eurocharged makes.

Yep, they said no green wire. I’m not running a BCM either. OBD2 is hooked up. I’m running Map 3, 93 Octane. I sent my Map 1, then 2 and 3 to BMS. They said map 3 is the max, get some E85.

Connect the green wire, especially if you're going to be running any blend of E85.
