How to change the center console?
Hi, i want to change the center console, i have the black piano today and dont like it, found the other parts that match the upper look (diamond look), but how do i change them?
I have seen a youtube video on how i remove the surrounding trim of the compartment but how do i change the sliding cover?
Anybody that have done this?

If you want to replace the actual console, you'd have to find the part number for the console in your desired trim and obtain it. @giovane started a thread of helpful DIY videos and post #1 video "head unit removal" shows the clear procedure of how to pop-off the center console. https://mbworld.org/forums/c-class-w...iy-videos.html

I'd recommend vinyl wrapping that area if you haven't already sourced the parts. A shop would very well do this for less than $100 in any finish that is available in vinyl. Aluminum, for example, would even look good IMO. Or even a matte PPF film to both protect it and make it a matte black instead could work well.
This is aluminum:

When i first started to think of changing the console i did think of vinyl and then did some searching and find different ideas, both vinyl and some Chinese ebay sellers have the abs plastic with adhesivie. But when i find the original for 120€ 150$ why bother for some cheep abs plastic or vinyl for the same price?!

That's why I order the car with the Fineline Anthracite wood trim, it was the only way to get some wood on the dash and not plano black in the center console.
I wish they used the same trim all over the car, I would have loved a wooden center console and door inserts.

Agreed! Even the natural grain black wood w/aluminum lines (s-class knockoff lol) comes with the shiny plastic console. I hate how quickly the whole car becomes smudged and grow closer to wrapping it everyday..

All that's left now is to muster the courage to disconnect the controller bar under the screen myself
EDIT: Watched the video again and I realized it doesn't show how to remove the sliding console cover, but it looks like it's a part of the whole computer

I have seen the youtube video but as you realized they only shows the surround cover not the sliding one.
I have found a picture of the compartment without the cover on, any ideas how its mounted, seems that there are some tabs and some holes but if they are for the cover i dont know.

On a slightly different topic I'm waiting to see how to disassemble the console storage and rear vents. I would like to install led lit rear vents but I have no idea how to do it.

Today i changed the console, i bought it from kunzmann.de
Scary thing to pry on some plastic tabs that sit as hell, several times i thought that i would break the whole console. But after a while it came loose.
I forgot to take pics sometimes but I have a few.
The sliding cover just sit in place by some tabs you just slide it backwards towards you then it's loose so you can pull it forward.
The button console just sits with two torx so the swap was very easy.

SOOOOOO much better, good for you. As for why they do it, they think it is premium as the W223 S-Class is full of it but we all know it is cost cutting.

I think they tried the gloss black here to make it a seamless black panel connected to black gloss screen. If you know what I mean. However your look is much better.
