I can only guess and judging by how my GTR sounds the answer would be more towards yes in regards to drone. Taking out the cats reduces restriction but also sound baffling too so you will have much more sound and it will be right there under the car. On the GTR I endure it because its that type of car but a Benz is still a luxury mobile so I would fathom that most would not like it as much except for the crazies that want to trap over 130 mph LOL

I did the resonator a yr ago, just went the next step, down pipes and 200 cell cats.
While your at it, get the tune to go with the sound.

If their was any, they worked it out. Renntech actually did the install, I live 5 min from them. Looks like you can afford Renntech, they will tune your Bently and Porsche ECUs too. Talk to Thomas there.

Here's sound clip. Renntech catless DPs to straight pipe. Cold start and after it settles a couple of revs. Once I get her to stop misfiring I will let her roar for ya...

You're right...and its a looooong story but we felt that we needed to be 100% Renntech in order to troubleshoot properly. Happy I did it though...now my wife can here me 10 minutes before I get home and have dinner waiting for me...lol.

Looking for a shop reference to do resonator delete on w218
I am ready to do some mods and looking to do straight pipe conversion. Any good reference to a shop that is trusted will be greatly appreciated. I live in LA.

Wow I am in shock right now!
Just got resonators removed and did not think it would make that much difference but I am in state of shock from the outcome.
First gear to 3rd sound is amazing. It gave the sound sort of new character. Defenetley more exotic tone and it started to garblle lot more after you let the gas pedal go. I will post some vidieos shortly.
I say not to do this is a crime unless you have full exhaust system.

My Renntech exhaust sound great on my CLS
upgrade turbos , which really change the sound
down pipes with 200 cell cats
Resonator delete.

E550 resonator delete?
I picked up a 2011 E550 recently. I did that because I wanted the 4Matic where I live in Canada.
But... She is too quiet. I have driven many cars and many exotics - and this is just too quiet. Hs anyone deleted resonators on warranty? I want to try this...

Obviously there is always a risk with an unfriendly dealer but I have never heard or seen on the forum any issues related to warranty being declined because of a resonator delete.
I just did mine last week and it is the best $150 I spent on this car to date.
Catless downpipes are just too loud and this strikes the right balance.
Now If I could find a valvetronic system that would keep the AMG tips, I would be all over it.
