AXIS wheels--- good or bad?

I have a chance to pick up some very good looking axis wheels....I have not really heard of them, and HRE's are over the top for me as far as style....I am sure this will inspire great debate, but are they a decent wheel or they junk? .....I think I can get the set for about $500 new....so it is a good deal....unless they are going to be large ash trays after I get them

thanks

Crap, dont put Axis rims on any MB let alone an AMG. Stick with stocks unless you are willing to get a real set of rims such as HRE's. Check out the Radenergie R05 3 piece rims that were posted here by a new sponsor a few weeks ago. They are 3 piece forged rims and you can get a sick 4"+ lip on the rears! I will likely go with these for my CLS55. They are around $6500 with tires though.

Obviouslt BurnR8 doesn't want to spend over 5k for a set of wheels. A lot of people don't. You sound like one of those guys who think a wheel has to be multi piece or it isn't any good. That's far from the truth. In fact, a lot of multi piece wheels are more trouble than they're worth. They seem to bend more easily and require more maintenance to keep them looking good. Clear coated or polished lips need regular polishing or they look terrible. Water gets trapped in the barrel after a rain causing some vibration until it gets out. I have a set of high end wheels but am planning to get one piece wheels for my new car. I'm leaning toward Axis because the wheel shop I've been using for 15 years swear by them. I read more than one article about the owner of Axis and he seems to be a real car nut who swears quality is important to him. Several other wheel shops I have consulted say the same. So where are you getting your info about poor quality? I have seen many multi piece wheels come in to the shop for repair. Never saw an Axis come in.

I just put these on my car, and they look sick.

www.fmetalwheels.com/main.html

I went with the FM2's 20x9 on front, 20x11 on rear. Lip on back is at least 5"

[Quote PlatinumSC]-Obviously BurnR8 doesnt want to spend over $5K? Obviously? Where did he say that?? He said "as far as style", not cash noob. If he was willing to spend $100K on a CLS55, I dont see why he would have an issue paying more than $500 for a set of rims. He asked for opinions, and I gave mine from MY experience with Axis rims. I have met the owner of Axis, I even competed against him in his Ferrari 360 in the Sport Compact Car Ultimate Street Car Challenge in my R33 GT-R Vspec. He's a cool guy, but I dont like their wheels, thats my opinion from past experiences I have had with Axis wheels and I am entitled to that opinion. Not to mention, on a car like the one in question, NOTHING looks better than a multi-piece wheel with a large lip. Maybe Axis rims look good on your Toyota and if so, more power to you.

I agree. Put a quality wheel with a nice lip on it or keep it stock.

yup, price is not really a big deal....god knows what I have spent on wheels over the years.....but I found these on Ebay, like the look, matches the silver in the car and has a mac daddy rear lip which I like....I just do not know if they are a decent, well built wheel.....I had a set of 3 piece RD Sport wheels on my C4 and those SOB's would bend if I got in it after a big dinner....not doing those again for sure... here is the link to the wheel to inspire more debate...have not bid yet, but neither has anyone else!

AMG E55, Stage 1, Strait Pipe from Primary Cats
Thumbs up Axiswheels.com

Axis are very good lightweight wheels. They are cast the same as VelocitE55 AMG'S 19'S.. To say the are crap and garbage is funny to me.. Some people are blind to some facts about cast wheels. Go with Axis if you like them.. I have friends who have run them as well as I. I have taken off AMG 19's off my car as well as brabus wheels .. and they were bent to hell.. So I speak from experience.. I have a close contact that sells them and is close to the owner aswell. They sell alot of AXIS and have no quality issues I assure you.
They also sell all the highend wheels. here is the list.

are you serious, the intro is 3 seconds. No need to skip..

I have never heard some be not like wheels because of a web site, besides the hot girl would only deter someone who has "seen one up close" if you know hat I mean..

No one here said anything about stock rims except to keep them in the event you arent willing to pay good money for a truly nice set of wheels. Stock wheels almost always suck, I have bent two already. Nothing beats a Forged Multi-Piece wheel with a nice lip...PERIOD.

A few things.
First, I'm not a noob. I have browsed this site over a year. I joined recently to dispute some of the silly crap I read. Further, I've been modding my cars since I was a kid, about 25 years. I know a little something.
Second, I have Maya wheels on one of my Toyota's (Lexus), cheaper 1 piece wheels on the other. BTW, I didn't put down your car. Why call mine a Toyota. I know that's the parent company but your words were an infantile attempt at slander. That's not necessary. I had a benz and I could put them down. The most unreliable cars on the market today. But I won't, I still like them and will own another one day.
Third, there are some 1 piece wheels that are of excellent quality, like CCW. Multi piece wheels are high maintenance and not everyone wants to take the time to baby them. In others words, modding is all about individuality and no one deserves to be put down for their choices. Unless they buy spinners...I simply can't accept that but I won't degrade someone who buys them. At least not to his face.

Oh yeah, I know you were kidding. I wasn't even thinking about what you said. I was thinking about this guy I saw at a mall. He was standing with another guy bragging about his brand new spinners. They were on a black S500. I couldn't believe it. That beautiful car ruined with spinners. My wife was with me. I was telling her how ugly it was and she was trying to get me to keep quiet in case the guy heard my comments. It was the first time and I was just shocked. I learned my lesson though. Keep my opinions quiet, the guy was so hurt.

The Truth is out there:

[QUOTE=benzondubz]Axis are very good lightweight wheels. They are cast the same as VelocitE55 AMG'S 19'S.. To say the are crap and garbage is funny to me.. They also sell all the highend wheels. here is the list.[QUOTE]

Truths about AXIS wheels:

1) All wheels are Mfg'd in Tawian and Thailand. AXIS operates a warehouse in Santa Fe Springs, Ca, which mainly serves as a storage and distribution center.

2) No manufacturing, forging, is done at all in the USA. All the wheels are imported from the same factories in Asia that churn out the millions of other no-name crappy wheels.

3) Axis began as a retail store in Anaheim, CA on Lincoln blvd. in 1996.

The OEM Mercedes-Benz wheel you have already has been engineered and tested. I urge you to not replace that kind of qualitywith something of inferior quality, production and engineering.

There is no doubt Axis makes some good looking wheels. If you have a G35, 350Z or a Honda, then do it. But to put a wheel of that caliber on a Mercedes-Benz would just not do it justice when the factory AMG wheels are of superior quality.
