Stupid Stealers! No Lowering! Got my own STAR
Damn! My local dealer only likes me when I pay my bills. I went and talked to the tech to lower my car. Even printed out the DIY thread to show how easy it is. Then manager give me a whole bunch of legal garbage. I just replied back..."I was a loyal customer". Besides who gives a crap about a free coffee when they charge you $50 for a air filter. I went ahead and ordered my own STAR (SDS, WIC, DAS, etc) so I can do my own lowering, programing, additions, etc.
Let me know if anyone wants $80 lowering in the DC/VA/MD area! ($ to help offset my cost and keep wife happy, lol)

It is "supposed" to be same as in dealership C3/C4 model V2009 works on all Mercedes after ~2003 with STAR. I'll post it if works once I receive it.
It should work just like the DIY Star Sticky on the E55 forums. So it would setup your initially values lower and the raise/lower should work normally with the button and when traveling at high speeds. Lot of people have had their cars lowered with the STAR method. I think it wont slam it as the modules do. Dealer was about to do it for about $200+, but then the Service manager denied me. Safer then washers and adjustable links.

You could have bought a good ELM for less than what the STAR probably set you back. But at least the STAR will have other uses. I might grab one off eBay some day.

I think I did???
Well I think I got this thing lowered right as per the sticky ![Loser](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/loser.gif)
I was still working on connectivity when I first started so I (duh) forgot to measure standard ride height. Once it did, I went right through the steps as quick as possible.
Currently in regular mode (not I or II) it's 26.25" in the front wheel and 26.5" in the rear. It does look lower then before and I drove it down the street to confirm the settings took.
I was using a Net-book PC with a USB to Serial interface which is being temperamental.

MBWorld Fanatic!
thats nice that you got the STARS tool, but sucky that Service Mgr wouldn't do it... i now benzelite here does it after a member brought the DIY sticky to them.
not sure w/the cls, but with my e500 i could fit 4 fingers in the wheel gap. But after getting an ELM installed, barely one finger... Front 2.25 and rear 2.00

2016 E550 Cab & 2011 GL 550 & 09 VROD Muscle & 06 Seadoo Speedster LE .......
Lowering it VIA star has a reduced Strut LIfe.......cause u r cheating the computer to keep the car in HWY mode so more strain on the STRUT.....well as a ELM lets the car drive in normal height while its in motion and still lets the computer control the height Electronically....as u shut off it goes bck to the lowered stance...
ELM is a better way to Lower the car........

Reduced strut life?
Oh well, I'll let you know when I blow one out.
Done so far:
- lowering 3.5 & -1.1
- 10 c mod
- 93 octane set
still trying to find a few things: fuel in tankinfo, vmax eliminate, break flash in panic stop
ajay

Yes I did a year ago, also the -10c, & lowering. Never had a problem with strut wear or odd tire wear. I did get an alignment as soon as I was happy with the height. Everythings is running fine and the road feel & stance is perfect, a lot better than stock. I ride mostly on sport 2 mode and comfort height in cities and roads with potholes etc.

I'm assuming you did this somewhere in developer star?

I feel my '12 needs a drop and have to either find someone that has STAR or get the dealer to do it.
What's the best ELM for lowering this car???
