Another CLS55 IWC thread, what's it worth?

I have been searching on the forums about the IWC edition. Many people like them, while some find the IWC edition to be overpriced

Anyways, I am looking at 2006 IWC edition with 40,000 miles. Clean carfax and has service records. Seller is supposed to email me some pics and I'll post them once I get them. What is this car worth, giving it's an IWC? (ballpark figure)

For them to be so rare, there are two currently on ebay:

21,000 miles for $57,000

52,000 miles for $47,000

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Merce...item3efea52085

Since the same seller has both of them, I don't know if that's what they are worth?

Also, is there any hopes of these being valuable, collector items one day?

Thanks

CLS 55 AMG IWC
I've got IWC... The main advantages are that you have the most beautiful color of the exterior and interior... Other things, just same as stock AMG, of course if you can name
"AMG" stock car!

It seems this question comes up all the time... Are the IWC worth the extra $$$???

Well that all depends on one thing, YOU! If you absolutely love the color combination and the fact that you own 1 of only 55 other cars that share the same options, then YES they're definitely worth the extra $$$.

These cars were built to satisfy those looking for something a little different, something with a little more status-que personality. Knowing you may never run into another one like it on the road, adds a bit of "VIP" to the mix of an already incredible and posh vehicle.

From my own research and experience while shopping for my CLS55 last fall, I ran into an IWC edition CLS55 for sale. The dealer that had the vehicle was asking over $17K more than what I paid for my "regular" CLS55. As much as I loved the IWC, I personally couldn't justify the extra $17K simply for a color scheme and the so called "VIP" status.

The two main reasons why I purchased the CLS55 was for one its looks and two the performance, and since the IWC looked the same (aside from the color scheme) and shared the same performance, there was really no solid incentive (for me at least) to pursue the IWC edition. If the IWC had more to offer maybe in terms of better performance, more accessories or other tangible options (other than color really) I may have considered it.

So if you ask me, they're not worth it. A "regular" and comparably equipped CLS55 will put as big of a smile on your face, and turn just as many heads as any IWC out there, with $$$ in you pocket to spare.

But, once again, if you're looking to join the 1 out of 55 club, and you gotta have that color, those wheels, that dash, the two tone leather, and if $$$ isn't an option, then any one of these IWC's will do just fine...

Last but not least, as for their potential value in terms of a collection... A perfect like new condition, possibly never titled, and one with with little to miles IWC edition CLS55 may fetch a premium (over its market value) down the road, but the two on eBay having been "around the block" so to speak probably won't yield anything substantial. There's one thing you can't forget about cars of this nature. It doesn't matter what they're considered to be worth... They're only worth what someone is willing to pay!

The titanium treatment is a really nice look. If you can get them down closer to $50k for the lower mileage one, I say go for it. Think of the exclusivity, 1 of 55.

There's also a very nice non-IWC one in Barolo Red with low mileage for around $47k here:

Good luck!

Well....I truly appreciate what the IWC is. I think it's a master piece. It's beautiful both inside and out. From the alacantra steering wheel and shift knob, to the color accented door handles to the one off feel of the leather (which is not two toned like Ducati mentioned)

Personally, I don't think I payed too much of premium over what a regular CLS55 would have been. What I did pay extra for was the starmark warranty that accompanied my purchase from my mercedes dealer. A warranty could be priceless on these cars.

As for the car being a collectable, that is a bit of a stretch. On the flip side, lets not forget, These cars came out in 2006 and I know for a fact a few of them have been totaled. To this day I have yet to figure out how many of these cars came to US. I would say there are only 45 still in existence but who knows.

oh, and those asking prices are very high. Obviously I would love to see them sell at that price b/c it will increase my value in theory (just as a COMP for home sales) I paid 48k and mine had 26k miles.

Be aggressive and pick one up, my car gets tons of looks and I couldn't be happier.

IWC stands for International Watch Co. (IWC Schaffhausen). IWC is a world renowned watch maker, known for their exclusive high-end watches.

EDIT: Here's more on what the IWC CLS55 came with / what makes it unique...

Please excuse my ignorance, but I would consider this to being a two tone interior...

Thanks for all the replies and information. I think I will stick to the regular CLS55 AMG. I want to buy one and be able to drive it, not make it a garage queen. I could make the IWC a daily driver, but it seems like it a big deal to ever get the body repaired/repainted if something was to happen due to the unique paint. I don't even think the dealer can order touch-up paint for it, but maybe I read wrong. I had a similar experience with a VW Phaeton W12 that had the double black Klavierlack paint.

Thanks

Any recommendations no purchasing an 06 CLS55? I found one with 55K miles and the premium package for 42700, and right away the guy said I could buy it for 40K. It is silver and the paint is in mint condition. I couldn't find a scratch or anything at all wrong with it. What would be a good price for it? What should I watch out for with these cars? Can I get a warranty for it? If so how much. sorry for asking these questions in this thread, I just figured I would instead of starting a new one.

With the PP II option it is average price for the mileage. The car is somewhat hi milage. It should have no more than 40-48k miles for that asking price.

Make sure it has parktronic, electronic trunk closeure, keyless entry, dynamic seats not to say new rubber, pads and rotors all around. Try and find one optioned with the P 030--a lot more desirable.

I'm not sure what the P 030 is, but the guy said it has the performance package that was a $10K option, but I don't know much about these cars, I just know I like them. Here is a link for it, can you tell from the ad what it has?

http://www.cars.com/go/search/detail...3D28705&aff=cj

Edit: I googled the P 030 option and he said it has the performance package...so is it any better for the price? He said $40, but wouldn't budge. What should I offer?
