Fuel Sender leaking, recall?
Fuel smell in the garage after last fill up, looked underneath nothing leaking, had my Porsche mechanic check it out and found the fuel sender on drivers side rear seat leaking. Did some research I found a recall back in 2008 for this but I never received one, has anyone had a dealer repair this under recall?
I see discussions on the W211 board but nothing here.
Recall number 2008020001

Could you guys please report your problems to the NHTSA as well? We really need them to know how many vehicles this is affecting:

Dealer took care of entire tab, said it was a full recall, even brought it in empty and they filled up the tank, also had them align it since I go through rear tires every 4k miles. Great service at Mercedes of Fresno!

Recall??
I've taken my CLS55 into the Stealership here in Honolulu, they say there is no recall. Anyone have specific info on this so I can bring it in to Mercedes? I have the leaking fuel sender, drivers side. When I look for the part, I can only find the passenger side, I've been following the posts on the E55 section about this, but wondering if anyone on our end has more info/answers???

It's not a recall. It is an extended warranty, USA only. Hawaii should be included. The info is listed in the first couple of pages over on the W211 tread. Call MBUSA if the dealer hassles you.

Fuel Leak
I had a fuel leak in my CLS55 back in 2012 and had it repaired by my mechanic. I took the original invoice for the repair to the stealership, and they submitted it to MB warranty for reimbursement under the extended warranty agreement issued by MB. Warranty covers all fuel tank components.....

I know this is an old thread but thought I'd share some info- My 2006 CLS55 AMG has been at a dealership in Dallas for over 3 weeks now. Took it in for the FSU/ Tank extended warranty, they first had to diagnose the problem (this apparently took several days, but the service manager was nice enough to call me with a long list of issues that need repair and they will happily take of these for me : ) I stopped adding at around $10k and declined any work beyond the fuel smell issue), then they had to order the parts, I guess they replaced my gas tank and FSU unit however now the car will not run for more then 10 seconds. I went back and got a loaner car at the 17 day mark, I am now on day 23 and have heard zero updates. I'm glad I didn't agree to all the other work they wanted to do, I would never get my car back!!!
I'm not sure what to do now, I want my car back but not sure I can call and demand they hurry up lol, I'm sure they want it gone as much as I want it back!

Sounds like poor communication on both parts, if I'm not getting a daily update from them I'm calling! If you're not bugging them the you're put on the back burner. Ask what the hold up is parts from Germany??

No, they have the parts but when they replaced the sending unit the car will only run for under 10 seconds and shuts off, they think it is an issue with the computer communicating with the new sending unit. I'll call today for an update and ask them what their next steps are or what they plan to do, this next Tuesday will be a month, in the mean time I will keep putting mileage on my loaner...

Call your dealer with your VIN and they can look it up and see if you are covered under their extended warranty. (not a recall)
