C230/320 SS suspension vs. C32 suspension!?
does the C230/320 really have the same suspension as the C32?!

is there any truth to this claim?

lol the C200K? thats totally different than the c230/c320.
the suspension is tuned by AMG but I don't think it's exactly the same. they are different cars with different weights and characteristics, they better not be using the exact same suspension!

Having just traded an '05 C230 and bought two C32s, The ride is not the same. They are tuned similarly, but I am sure AMG is refined enough to adjust spring tension and matching dampers for differences in vehicle weight at a minimum. That is just Suspension 101, but the observations are completely subjective.

One way to find out is to look at part numbers.
My guess the suspension would be different, since C32 and C55 have different front weight distribution vs. 230s and 320s.
Give dealer a call.

no its not the same. the c230k sits about 1.5 inches lower than a stock c32 up front and the rear is a tad higher than a c32. The springs in the c32 are made to support the massive motor and if the c230k had those springs it would look like an suv (or even more htan it does now
).
The c230k sure is fun to drive though. At 3100 lbs its a feather compared to a c32. trouble is it has no power![Smilie](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
no need to call the dealership the cars suspensions are not the same!

C230k's suspension is not TUNED by AMG.
The only suspension that is tuned by AMG other than the one on C32/55 are the W203s that has the AMG Evolution sport package in Europe which comes w/ all the goodies that are used on the C32 except the engine, and the AMG Evolution package has a large oval single AMG stamped exhaust. I had posted a picture of the C320 that has that package long time ago.

Hi Frank,
Maybe you could clear up a related question. a salesguy told me that the ride height on German C32s are lower than DOT approved ones in front. The sales myth goes that the front struts have a 25mm removable spacer in them at the top of the strut housing that can be deleted to make the front of the C32 drop to Euro drive heights. The detail of this info makes it seem plausible. Perhaps it is just sales hype. I can't visualize the potential region of existance with the wheel off. Would you happen to have a credible thought on this to dispel the myth? Thanks.

The C32s sold in Europe does have lower ride height, but I'm not so sure about if there is a spacer that you can remove from the front strut. From what I understand the difference is between the springs. Weidermann has the Euro springs on his C32 and it does makes the car lower than the US DOT approved C32.
