I was thinking that he was using nitrous, and had perfect conditions.

Reaction time does not factor into your overall quarter mile time. I think it would be pretty hard to break 13 without doing some modifications.

In my experience, I'm not sure if tires make a huge difference. If I remember correctly, my 60' time with the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S was 1.8; and with the Nitto's, it was 1.85. Maybe it had something to do with track preparation or temperature, but I personally wouldn't invest $400 on new rear tires to get a faster quarter mile time unless you run drag radials.

The best way to lower your times in my opinion is to get lighter wheels.

First time at the track

I know this is not a W203 but the R171 guys do not seem to be into 1/4 mile

I was running the M/T Drag Radials I purchased from DragonAMG last year when he ran his 11.99, I no longer have my C55, Traded in for a SLK55 and I ran a 12.2 at 112mph with it not too bad for just green filters and M/T's

here is a link to the time slip

First time dyno'ing and dragging my car!

This weekend at the ATL AMG meet - what a great time and invaluable experience for a newbie like myself! (thanks to Chappy et al. for organizing it).

Dyno'ed the car on Saturday and was very surprised and happy with the results. They seem little high for an essentially stock car (321.6 rwhp and 322.1 torque). I had 2 dyno runs - both pretty much the same. The dynanometer was a Dyno Jet. All the other cars that were there all dyno'ed very close to their specified rwhp so it looks like the DynoJet was fine. It was just surprising to be putting down more rwhp than the clk55's and slk55's.
Attached is a scan of the dyno' graph (don't ask why they have speed on the x-axis! Chappy has everyone's data on file so I can get it later).
All I've done to the car is IK20 plugs and Magnecor wires (I took my green filters out and replaced with stock for the dyno and drag runs).

Since dyno runs are relatively inconsequential and time to distance seems to be the best test, I took the car out with the rest of the AMG guys to the drags. By best time was 13.344 (others were 13.403 and 13.383). Unfortunately, I had a horrible problem launching and could not prevent a lot of wheel spin (as evident from my bad trap times!). Clearly, I don't know what I'm doing!

You should have done at least one dyno run with the green filters . I know quite a few C32 owners like myself who would like to know if the Green Filters helped increase your horse power . I like you am using the magnecor wires and ik20 plugs and ordered a while back the green filters but still waiting. If u get another chance to dyno car then please do it with the green filters instead of the oem ones so we all can see the difference. Remember that u r gonna have to duplicate conditions and use same type dyno to really know.

c32used - yeah, that would have been nice, but I purposely wanted to dyno the car just stock (the plugs and wires aren't going to make a difference hp-wise). The reason being, if I had a motor with weak stock rwhp, I would not spend the money modifying it - I'd just save up and get a used E55 . But... since the motor seems to be fairly strong as stock, I'm going to add a bunch of mod's together and then dyno (using the same one of course!). Of course, it would be nice to see the hp gain after each and every mod, but it all adds up and the dyno is an hour away. Also, all the other AMG guys were dyno'ing and we were only doing 2 pulls each.

Additional info about the drag runs I posted - I was running fairly crappy Yokohama rear tires, 93 octane, the air temp was about 62F. The ATL-AMG dudes with whom I was with (and know what they are doing!) said the track wasn't prepped too good.

Those #'s can't be right for a stck C32 especially based on your 1/4 mile times. PTE dynoed his CLK55 at 325whp on a dynjet in Fla. Weeks later with the same exact mods and nothing more done to the car his car came out with 341whp,16whp more on the same dyno you guys were all using at the event in ATL. PTE has Kleeman cams, headers, pulleys and custom 3" exh. I questioned him about the diff and he said he could not understand why either but stated that Noah confirms that's correct. I feel the dyno in ATL was very optimistic! PTE's dyno's listed ATL and FLA. SAME MODS!

I am inclined to agree. However, even with say 16 extra (false) hp, I'm still making more than I should. I think my car was modded (I bought it used) and that may explain it. There isn't any AM pulley on it, but there could be tuning on it. There were many cars there that pulled exactly their advertised hp (in fact some pulled a little less), so I don't know if that has any bearing on the validity of the dyno. In any case, I'll be dyno'ing again pre/post modding fairly soon, so I'll know then.

305whp for your car stck would not be too far fetched. However ,yes you can say you have a strong running C32. I'm just not sold on the ATL dyno but the 1/4 mile times surely will speak as to what whp the car possibly has under x,y,z conditions.

not all Dynos are equal.......even if they are the same model (Dynojet to Dynojet...Mustang to Mustang, etc.). It is very easy to see quite a diff in Dyno numbers by the setting and calibration of the Dyno. Some are just very VERY optimistic.......measuring "My Little Ponies" instead of Horsepower. I've seen cars that make 398 whp on one Mustang Dyno make 430+ on another. Like they say.....take Dyno numbers with a grain of salt. Just use it as a tool for your own car......and use it to gauge your subsequent mods/changes to the car. If you ARE going to compare #'s.....it's only really fair to compare numbers from the same Dyno, same day, and fuel. Anything else is just assumptions imho

Those are some sweet times! Congrats!
How did your new custom intercooler set-up hold up?? Did you do multiple runs where you could see if it made a difference?

unfortunately no, i would have liked to, but the lines were simply too long, about an hour wait between runs...

on that note though, i do think that i need a bigger reservoir after being at the track and being able to feel the effects of each run individually on the reservoir...i am going to see what solutions i can come up with for that.

Very nice times, but I think your car is modded, like you said. Cause your MPH in the 1/4th was 107, that's pretty high for a stock C32, mine was only 104 and a 13.6. I could MAYBE hit 13.5 or 13.4 with better track conditions and/or better tires, but I don't think my MPH would increase too much in stock form.
