renntech? is upsolute or giac producing one? $2000 for a renntech chip is just way too much

amgme,
I don't know much about the company...but I came across their web site www.asechips.com which they claim HP increase of 349hp to 365hp and TQ 332 to 349lb ft. The upgrade cost $799.

Regards
Richard

Good price, although the performance increase is not as good as Renntechs.

I'd vote for a pulley set
I'd rather see that kind of cash spent on a pulley set. I feel it will give better results.

I personally feel the ECU mod is a bit "intrusive". Also the ECU is such a black box that it may automagically "back out" the timing advance curve the tunershop introduces. In cany case you have to wait to see some actual charts, and hear some enduser testimony before you spend.

People are finding inexpensive pulleys
There is a recent post on C-Class board, Buellwinkle has installed a larger alloy crank pulley on a C230 supercharger for $350? Looks great, and 1/6 the cost of Renntech......, (not ALL the aux pulleys included though, just the crank).

It won't be long till someone dimensions out a better C32 pulley to get the last couple of pounds of boost.

And you will have enough $ left over to feed the hamster and buy a gerbil too.

Pulley is better, maybe
If you have interest in this topic, jump over to the SLK32 forum (same motor), SteveL has both Renntech ECU and Rennetch pulley. He generally confirms that pulley is the better "bang for the buck" ($2000 for either).

Note, others say that pulley may cause the car to run a little Lean, that is not good and and may have to be addressed. More testing is required tho. Best to wait and let others sort this all out.
