check engine light

Yea so i was able to put my car in dyno mode and went out for some fun...for some reason i couldnt put the car into 1st gear when in M mode. I shut the car off did the procedure again and was able to put it in 1st again. Messed around some more and couldnt put it in 1st AGAIN! THen i noticed the check engine light on. Shut off the car made sure that dyno mode was off still check engine light is on. Anyone have this problem or am i alone here and or what should i do?

man, who knows ? the mb computer is freakin complicated and supersensitive. The other day some e-class owner put an LED bulb on his rear turn signal without resistor.. fried the computer.

well i was a little exaggerating.

But here’s the new policy that I was told by a senior mechanic at a local MB dealer, when you run a service at the dealer, they hook up a diagnostic system to read everything that you had done to the car. If the computer reads that something is out of place (like ECU upgrade, car driven in dyno mode, HID fog lights), it automatically sends an email to the service manager as well as the Germans. The rest is up to them.

these directions worked perfectly for me a few months ago. you guys who have dynoed, did you dyno in 3rd or 4th? most of my runs were in 3rd, but then i decided to do some in fourth, and i made the most torque in 4th...power was only like 2rwhp off. but this was after 3 runs in 80+ degree heat. i think i would have put more down from the beginning if i did it in 4th, because by the time i ran in 4th there was already lots of heat soak. i also think the ratio is closest to 1:1 in 4th, or at least closer than 1:1 in 3rd? makes me think i shoulda done it all in 4th...

I havent got the chance to re-dyno my car. I'd like to get opinions from some experts first regarding my messed up dyno before going back there again.

what was wrong with your dyno? i followed your instructions and it worked fine for me. the dyno was a dynojet 248. i did it in 3rd, i believe i should have done it in 4th, but i got a tad over 291rwhp and 286rwtrq in 80+ degree heat. your car is an 03, i think with the right conditions you can hit 300rwhp?

For sure, the rear brakes were engaged from time to time, eventhough it was running in dyno mode. That's what's wrong with my dyno. A friend of mine suggested me to take the abs fuse off, and someone else suggested to close the hood when dynoing.
But first thing first im gonna wait till the weather cools down a bit.. 93F isn't helping much.

"On cars equipped with Command, to enter the diagnostic screen
press and hold the following keys for about 8 seconds: Mute + 1 + 3"

Why can't I get this to work on my car? 2002 C32 with COMAND.

Can someone elaborate on these instructions please?

Joe
