You then do that in the opposite direction and insert a screw driver into the resistance locks on the inside top. The vent slides out in one piece.
There is no need to dismantle fittings to do this work. I would hate to think you are telling people that is how its done.
Paul Hicks has had this info out for about 1 year now.

Look on page 5, document dated 1999.

I know about the vent release. We tried that for about 15 minutes but could not get a good enough angle on the bolts to remove without causing damage. We made a call to a MB Canada shop foreman and were directed to remove the vents and outer housing in order to expose the screws fully and avoid possible damage to either the bolt heads or vent itself. My installer had a Y shaped tool (not sure what its called, looked like one of those dental floss rigs) from SnapOn Tools that released the vents from the side and allowed them to pop out VERY easily and then the outer housing just pops out as well. No breaking!! This allowed full access to the Command hold down bolts.
I notice that the vehicle on your link not a C55 but a standard w203 dating back 6 years. \Possibly the C55 is a little different. I will follow up with my dealer in the next day or so to see what they have to say and post a follow up

You need a T20 tool with a no less than 300mm shaft. Otherwise the C55 and 2001 C180 is identical in the removal department. The C55 is faster because the centre vent control wheel has vanished and no longer resists on the housing as you try to remove it.
The top clips that hold the vent in do not require angle, all they need is the tip of a flat screwdriver to wedge themselves straight into the space provided. Then it releases nicely.
I have yet to see too little information in WIS. It is often too much information, sometimes it can be done quicker but I dont know if making 1 parts into 4 parts is faster.

Thanks for the update. Not sure what the shop foreman was blathering on about?? he was on the phone with my installer and walked him thru the removal. I do believe that your method would be faster and cleaner.
thanks again.
Thanks
