Busted doing 186mph/300kph....bummer.

"Tell people they mustn't do it. Don't speed. I was stupid."

This was what East Rand speed fiend Emmanuel Jackson, 48, said at the Germiston magistrate's court, after being caught doing 249km/h in his gold Lamborghini on Sunday on the N2 South near Edenvale.

Jackson appeared in court on a charge of reckless and negligent driving. The case was postponed to September 9.

Earlier, Jackson clocked 300km/h at Kyalami in the same gold-coloured car.

Jackson owns four Lamborghinis and he and his attorney, Nick Xenophontos, arrived at the court in a brand-new white C55 AMG Mercedes.

Gary Ronald, spokesperson of the Automobile Association, said accidents occurred regularly near the Linksfield off-ramp on the section of the road where Jackson was caught.

"Driving at that speed on a public road is absolutely reckless. You are driving twice as fast as other motorists."

Ronald said the speed difference between trucks and cars already increased the chances of an accident.

"Add to that a maniac driving at 249km/h and you have a recipe for disaster.

"Someone who drives that fast does not deserve to drive on public roads."

Damn dude your screeeeeeeewwwwwed! Sorry to say but no postponement is gonna get you off that one. I got caught doing almost 120mph in my slow c230 and it turned out ok $1000 dollars in fines and lawyer fees later lol! plus a suspension of liscense......for you expect more like 60 day suspension and bigger fine if this is your first offense. Best advice........yes get a good lawyer, but a cheap one at that because no lawyer is going to get much out of that one. Good Luck mang!

P.S. it sucks I know how you feel powerless and angry you got caught and wish this wasn't as bad as it sounds, but it is and it isn't because eventually you get over it lol.

Every mile over 90 in VA is atleast a day in jail. A friend got busted for 98/55. He was on the highway with no other cars in sight at 11:30 pm. Does not justify it but it was not rush hour either. He got $500 fine plus $300 lawyer fee, 45 days in jail, 44 days suspended, lost his license for 3 months and probation for a year. If he got another ticket during that year he would of had to serve the rest of his sentence. Plus the ticket stays on his record for 6 years. What is worse is they were letting first time drunk drivers off with just a suspension, no jail. They do not mess around in Northern VA,

I think it's stupid.

If the guy has four lambo's, obviously he is a car nut. Being a car nut, we take the time to learn how to drive.

****, mad props for going that fast!

I recently blew by the Nevada Highway Patrol just outside of Needles doing ~120. Same thing, he turned his lights on, and turned them right back off again. I think out in the middle of the desert they have a tendency to leave people alone unless you're driving like a complete ***.

A friend of mine told me to think about it from their perspective: when the nearest help is a half hour away, do you really want to make more stops than you have to? I guess they flash people a lot just warning them to slow down, but really have better things to do.

There should be no daytime Speed Limit on dry roads.
Nightime/wet/icy roads Speed Limit should be 65 and strictly enforced!!

These kinds of fines are way overdone and so rediculous. 65 mph speed limits are back from the stone age when cars had suspensions like butter and drum brakes all round. 98 is a cruizing speed for a modern car. As if people that go 65 eating their breakfast and cutting off other people in the process without looking in their mirrors are less of a hazard

I look in my side view mirrors before I cut people off.

Speed limits should be bumped up to 120 or so.
I can supercruise at that speed easily.

yes, the good ones do. but that is not the problem you will mainly encounter. it is slowing down fast enough part! 2 things can happen:

1. if you slam on the brakes, you will lock up your wheels, probably avoid the ticket, but could lose control of vehicle and would create 'flat-spots' on your tires making it a bumpy ride till you get new tires.

2. you don't slam the brakes hard enough that you don't slow down and you are busted.

i'm talking about very high speed like this guy. but, if your are going just 15-20mph over, light braking alone would be good enough to slow down in time and not get caught.

assuming non-instant on radar, i detect cops about 2-3 miles away. in indiana, the cop was using the old school x-band which i detected <5 miles (my one and only x-band encounter). with the cops switching over to using instant-on Ka and laser, speeding is getting trickier.
