question.. opinions please??

ok..i go to college right now and will be finished in a year... my parents gave me thier qx4 truck as a early graduation present when my c couple lease was up a few months ago... we have all agreed that now is not the time for a full time student to have a truck with gas and all and decided that i should sell it... first i was considering a s4 or a c32 from the manheim auto auction for whenever i sell my truck.. i have been trying to sell the truck for a few weeks now.. no bites.. recently i am most definitely decided on a c32 just because being a previous benz employee and seeing them from time to time made me always want one..anyway.. i have nothing but the c32 on my mind and then my parents tell me a couple days ago they are thinking of gettin themselves a sports car... so tonite they wake me up from a nap and tell me to go outside and show me a fully loaded g35 in the driveway.. they start asking me how much i like it and i said it was ok.. so my dad takes me for a drive and says "we were thinking about trading in your qx4 and gettin a g35 for you as long as we can drive it whenver we want" which wont be that much.. i know you guys are thinking.. why dont you ask him to help you out with a benz or something like that.. but after working at a benz dealership as a shop foreman for 22 years he is a real benz hater now and a german car hater for that matter... now my question is would you guys take the brand new g35 with everything (about 42k) even tho your really not into them that much??? or would you just sell the qx4 and go to the auto auction and get a used c32 for around 28-30k???... and keep in mind that gettin the g35 and then selling it for around 40 and gettin soemthing else is not an option....

i was thinking about G35 before I got my Benz, there is so many of them, it sucks!!! , but , hey if its not the problem for you , get it. good car.

. there is one problem, if you dont like the car, you never going to enjoy it,it just going to be another car. thats all.

Appreciate that which your parents are giving you instead of coming to a forum looking for ways to get something else. If that upsets you so be it. Not everybody has as generous of parents. $0.02

1) Immediate defensive response upon facing a reply not befitting your ideals/wishes. Was expected btw.
2) Your thread title did not specify positive/your way of thinking only responses.
3) Your posts imply attempted manipulation - your wishes and values do not appear to want to consider opposing viewpoints.
4) Value your parents who at the present time seem to finance your every life without trying to control their actions by reasoning preceived/wanted values.
5) Nissan QX4, on purpose reference, is classified an SUV and not a truck btw. Consider also the appearent perceived value you think it possesses with the real life experience you have gained in regards to this when trying to sell it.

lol... ok man... my post also doesnt ask anything about morals or what the difference between a truck or suv is.... its just a simple situational question.. all i was expecting was a simple situational response.. not a response on how i dont appreciate my parents.. but whatever you say.. oh and suv is a form of truck because it is built on a truck chassis by the way..

I test drove a G35, before I decided to get a C32.

I test drove a G35, before I decided to finally get a used C32 (which I originally wanted).

The G35 drives very nicely, but did not have enough horsepower for me. Also, I don't really like the looks of the backside of the car. At the time, used G35s were as expensive as new ones.

I had considered getting a G35 and adding a Stillen blower, but that requires an ugly bulging hood modication.

The reason, you see so many G35s around is that it is a very well designed all around car.

Of course I also considered a CLK55 and Pontiac GTO, before I got the C32.

The four doors is very useful and the C32 is very stealthy. There are C320 and C240 MB all over the place, here. The C32 is pretty unknown and unrecognizable, by non-car people.

My opinion, if you are going to school, just use the G35. After you have been out of school for a year or more, get something else.

There is no point in spending more money, while in school, you are treading water. About a year after school, you will be ready to swim again.

The main point is while in school, the main focus should be school, with a little time off for life balance. After school, then you can play around with more radical hobbies.

One should consider their career (school) first. Then consider their saving plan, after that one can consider excessive hobby expenses.

Cars are a depreciating asset, the only reason for spending lots of money on a car, is the personal joy and satisfaction one gets from the having the vehicle. This is a matter of balance for quality of life and setting priorities for the future.

I think the build quality and the perceived quality of the G35 is poor compared to the C32. I love the c32 for its cruising ability although it feels a bit haevy through the corners.

The c32 is a class above (in terms of engineering and quality and price)

and then there's the engine...........................

It is just a car and you are still young and you will be driving all the new models super techno cars when by that time , some of us have already died. Why make things more complicated , get the G35 and enjoy with the ladies. What kinds of ladies would give a damn of your preowned C32 and not a new G35.

Here's what I would do in your situation:

1. Graciously thank my mother and father for providing me with the G35 while attending school.

2. Study like hell.

3. Upon graduation and obtaining secure employment, purchase a vehicle I desire within budget.

Good luck

I would get what you want. Dont spend $40k on something your not going to enjoy. Save the money and get the C32, otherwise you will regret it and it will bug you that you didnt get what you wanted. I was in the same boat as you (although I was buying the car) and was looking at getting the G35 which I have liked since it came out. But I knew I would want to add hp to it, AND I have 2 kids so I kinda needed a 4dr. SO for me the choice was the C32 and I love it (although I do want some LED taillights like the SL55-G35 have)....

Dude, C32 all the way! It's always nice having a surprise like that. But $42k isn't worth it IMO. They are everywhere now out here in Tallahassee. I see almost as many G35 coupes as I do Mustangs. The C32/C55 is truly a unique car with a great deal more hp. However don't doubt a G35 coupe they are a low 14 stock, but I was checking out one on E-Bay running 380rwp w/ GReddy TT. The guy had it fully loaded and a nice JL Audio system and only 15k miles. If it wasn't black I would have gotten it. He wanted $40k tho, and I still would rather have an //AMG!
