Really Confused Now :(
That thing will be really fast and I am getting a G class pretty soon in addition so I really could manage having a two seater.
WE all know the slk55 would be fun as hell to drive but what are your other thoughts? Is it a chick car? Should I even care? I am only keeping it for a year and half until the new body styles come out anyway?

Forget the C55, W203 is fading out , you should only pick a CLK55 or a SLK55.
I don't need to tell you the differences and pros and cons as a 3 yr old can tell.
I would get the SLK55 with a 7G for maximum pleasure and status
It is a crime if someone disagree with me :v and tell you to get something else. A 367hp chick's car? Are we joking here?
cnt
p.s. you should stay out from this thread if you ever insulting us (with all that times people spent on advice for you) if you end up with a G class class

There is a great article in this months Mercedes Enthusiast on the SLK55 and the Kleemannized version. IMHO these are not chick cars. I drove the CLK55 and the SLK55 at the AMG Challenge at Road America tis summer and they are 2 completely different cars, the SLK is nimble, very quick and a blast to dive.
The CLK is a great ride as well, I felt it had more body twist than the CLK55 and the ones we drove seemed to have some issues with squeaks etc. (however these cars are driven very hard by a number of people so that could be a result of the "abuse" they take.)
I sugest going to your dealer and taking both for an extended test drive, city drving, highway, twisaties etc....top up/top down that way you'll have a better idea what you want and if either of these cars fit your needs.
If I were also buying a G-wagon...I'd buy the SLK in a hearbeat....have the SLK Kleemannized and for less than 100K you're almost in McLaren territory (almost).
Look at some of the threads regarding the C55. People are selling this car for a variety of reasons and that is ashame. I don't think anyone has issues with the mechanics on the C55.
I have to sell my car simply because I need to re-direct my assets.
To sum up all AMG's are great cars, why the c55 is valued in the proverbial toilet is a dissapointment and a mystery to me.

But oh well, after driving one, I am hooked

I'd bet that the curve will flatten out soon. The same thing happened to the C32, remember? They depreciated really fast because they were so overpriced when new (and so is the C55). The curve flattens out quite a bit around the 3 to 4 year old range, so the C55 should stay in the mid-30's for a much longer time than it will be in the mid-40's. For almost the entire year, it was difficult to find a really clean 2002 C32 for less than $30K, even though the book showed them there (private party value).
